And now for 4.0 he is saying nothing will change. Good thing I'm addicted to dressing up lizard girls because my expectations are rock bottom.

It was in an interview awhile back. The same one where he said if you get burned out on the game you can go play another one and then come back for the fresh patch.

But let me spell it out: IF somebody is no longer capable of a job, THEN they should be replaced. I admire Yoshi for all he's done but IF the reason FFXIV has been in Play-It-Safe Mode is his direction of the game, THEN we need a new director.

However, I doubt it is his direction and more limitations that he's being stuck with. I believe* his orders are from higher up, and rather than having the funds from XIV used to fund it, they're being redistributed to VIIR, XV, and KH3.

*unsubstantiated but those projects sure did pop up and back to life after XIV became successful

In a way it is up to us lol. If people suddenly stop subbing one day, Square would probably put him on the chopping block first.

Like I said, I admire Yoshi for the work he's managed--a miracle, making this game with nearly no budget. I just wish we'd see the quality go up as his budget goes up as well.

Don't forget that, even if he is producer, Yoshida has a boss too who has a boss too in the shape of share holders. If he wants to do something and take risk but his boss says no....well he can't do it.
Don't want to find excuses to him and the way the game went, but he might not be completelly free in his decision, especially after 1.0
