This is a videogame, you can bot many many aspects of it.

That website also doesn't help you complete the Challenge Log to get 8 recruits of differing jobs that will allow you to hit those stats.

    This existing doesn't make the mini-cackpot not a mini-game.

I do not consider the mini cactpot a mini game either - or I guess I should say, I don't consider it worthwhile content in this game.

It sounds like you enjoy both aspects, so that is good. Obviously, I don't want to take away stuff from the game that other people enjoy. As I said, I can go on pretending that squadrons don't exist.

Yes, you can do that. This has incentivized me and other people i play the game with to do the Challenge Log, just like Tails has gotten lots of people to redo older fights. Let's not pretend that if they didn't make this they were going to release another dungeon or primal. Something like this can be more long lasting than a random fight like Urth's Fount or any of the Gilgamesh fights.

I am not pretending as such, but they could have put that towards some much needed QoL changes. For example, a better glamour system/wardrobe, a wallet that holds all of our tokens, the ability to refund items shortly after purchase, and so on.

I would love to have been incentivized to run some of this older content. I love MogEX fight, for example. The Gilgamesh fights are also quite fun. This stuff has not incentivized me to run any of this, even slightly.

Wondrous Tails would easily be 10x better, if the RNG sticker aspect wasn't present. I started it, figuring why not, then realized it had that sticker thing and have not since done anything else with it. So, in my opinion, Wondrous Tails was implemented poorly and Squadrons should not have been implemented.

Let's also consider that removing 1 thing like this may not = a new dungeon, but perhaps the plethora of things like this might. Aquariums are another example of wasted dev time. This should have been a very simple housing item, but they made it overly convoluted. Same thing goes for LoV.

    - You have to complete your challenge log for recruits to show up.
    - You have to choose if you take them in or dismiss them depending on your current squadron and current available missions.
    - You have to do some calculations about what training to do in order to maximize your chances of success for certain missions.
    - The chemistry system allows for quite a lot of possibilities you have to think about when activating them or not.
    - Certain missions have affinity bonus that you can play around and try to get. These are also in relation with the Chemistry system allowing for some great combos.
    - You have to think about how making all your guys stay within the same level instead of always sending the same ones over and over because they have "the best stats".
    - It's very likely that you won't have enough stats to have the maximum success chances to pass quite a bunch of Standard missions due to their very high requirements. So you also have to take risk/reward decisions.
    - Also, Standards missions are randomized every week, so you have to start all your planning over each week and adjust everything again.
And all of that is just for low to mid level missions. We don't even know what the "end game" of these looks like.

So, saying that you "are not doing anything yourself" is a bit misleading.
Unless you just send them over and over on the low level missions because you absolutly don't care. But then, that's just your subjective preferences about not liking this kind of theory crafting.

IIRC it hasn't been made clear if they're intended for use with ALL dungeons, or solely a new type of content coming in the expansion. I actually think it's more likely the latter. The current story is clearly moving towards us going into a war with Ala Mhigo and Garlemald. We need troops for something like that. I wouldn't be surprised if we see new 20 man dungeons involving four players and their respective squadrons. It would certainly cover that 'never before seen in an MMO' content that Yoshi was teasing at TGS.

Why the heck so much people in this thread don't see the new GC rank as a reward,
Oh boy, being able to carry 80k seals instead of 50k, what a reward.

The first option has more value to the overall world. But I'd be lying If I said that 20 man dungeons with four players and squadrons sounded dumb. That sounds awesome lol. Final Fantasy Tactics the real time edition.

I'm so confused as to why people are defending it...
It's literally just a useless time sink that gates your promotion to First Lieutenant, which currently only unlocks the ability to hold 80k seal, a hat, and a jacket.
It's not some balls-to-the-wall number-crunching game where you have to micromanage your troops, it's literally just ventures with a few annoying numbers thrown in.
You can pretty much do any of the missions with a party of a tank, a healer, and physical DPS, and a magical DPS and then training accordingly.
Training and getting numbers isn't hard and doesn't require much thought.
IF this really is only like 5% of what they were actually planning (which took them about 4 years, by the way), they should have waited will they could release way more, like at 25% of what they were actually planning. You'd think they would have learned their lesson on rushing things out from 1.x.

Indeed, and I am not going to do everything listed for 200 scripture tomes that you cap in 2 days anyway. The entire process is messed up, the implementation and the reward structure.

That said, I am not sure how giving 1 crafted item per week would "destroy" crafting gear. By the time you can make a full set, most people that care about purchasing crafted gear will be in full tome/raid gear. Crafted gear is only very strong at the beginning of the patch to give that quick edge. By this point, I'd have a tank and a monk chest piece - where I don't even play either. Nevermind 0 heal or caster items (the 2 jobs I do play).
