    Yo Dawg I heard you like to grind. So I put a system for you to grind out ranks, so you can grind out seals to spend on stuff on your new rank.

    I don't think it's as much as the GC rank is actually a reward, just that's it's a pretty hollow reward. It's not really something you look to get out of a brand new game system, I'm also curious about the "Long term goal" of the system. Why not release the system when the long term goal is known and something to shoot for. As it stands we just get early access to the grind portion so we can near instantly unlock all the other content once it's released?

    If it's not "instant gratification" then people don't care or are completly oblivious to it? It that what it's all about?
    I would assume people wanna feel good by getting the next rank instead of having a random useless NPC go out for the literal ENTIRE day
    just to rank up. You click, they go, come back and done. You're not even doing anything yourself.
    At least for our old GC rank ups we had to do certain dungeons and stuff and random mobs, they coulda done this again but some reason they tagged
    on a crappy retainer-esque thing that took years to put in...Getting tired of this half-baked content they love to throw in.

    I'm kinda hoping that squads play a little role in MSQ narrative come the xpac. Even a small role, featuring in some cutscenes and following you into battle in the new zones and inevitable Garlean confrontation would be awesome. After all, we're all commanders now, the story needs to recognise that :P

    @Fyce: Well, what will be the rewards for this after you get the rank? I mean, why should I really train them more after that, if I am not even sure if there will be future content? Its not their first time where they said that they want to do something only to never introduce it into the game or delay it again and again. Nobody can even guarantee that we will be able to use them in dungeons.

    I dislike the words "instant gratification"..just because someone does not like something doesn't means that they want it handed over on a silver tablet. But why should someone even in the slightest care for something so boring if there is not even a rewarding bonus behind it? And I find it really boring. At least with the retainers, you could decide how they look and behave, you have some nice little text there and its kinda funny to see what they bring next. But the squadron has nothing like that. First you have to hope for good RNG to get a person, than hope that it has a good class/stats..then train them a little, which is also only one click and after that, send them on their way for another RNG based venture..that is not fun, at least for me.

    I just want some content that we can completely use from the beginning and not just hope that somewhere in the future we might get more use for them..at least for something like the palace of death, you can have different goals to go there, like getting the minions, the mount or just for trying to solo it or level classes..and we got a promise that the next patch (or now 3.45) will bring us the last floors thus making it complete..with the squadrons, we will be waiting for who knows long for any meaningful content..

    And at another smaller point, I dislike that this is not truly optional..at least with things like the adventure book I can just say "no" to it. But putting the new rank behind that..now we need to do this boring ventures because otherwise we might get looked out from all the new materials and other things that they will put behind the new rank..so they are in a way a must have.

    It's great that the only aspect of this game that actually requires any sort of gameplay is done by a website calculator for us! \o/

    Honestly, if I wanted to play this kind of crap, I'd play a free-to-play phone game. I am playing on my high-end PC, so that I can play high-end PC type games. Luckily for me, I can just ignore that Squadrons exist and pretend that I still think Square has at least some sense of good game design left in them.

    It doesn't. You still have to figure out the training by yourself and if you didn't know that website existed you would have to do the party comp by yourself too.

    This is a videogame which is a computer algorithm, you can bot many many aspects of it.

    That website also doesn't help you complete the Challenge Log to get 8 recruits of differing jobs that will allow you to hit those stats.

    This existing doesn't make the mini-cactpot not a mini-game.
