BLM's skills are all useful somewhere, and if you don't do PvP, where freeze becomes absolutely needed, just remove it from your bar and forget about it.

In my experience it's too hard to hit the freeze without swiftcast, and you also have blizzard 2 which also binds and you mostly want to bind people that are attacking you. Freeze is too hard to use effectively in pvp.

Because if you keep trying to hardcast it or swiftcast it you are doing it wrong, you should cast it from astral fire III, preferrably with a fire proc waiting, to go back to AF3 asap after freeze.
You probably play BLM wrong in general, thunder I is used as a filler but if you skip thundercloud procs all the time you are literally not using the strongest spell in the game (beats fire IV potency by about 200) and on a side not the strongest attack in the game in general.
All jobs have 2 or 3 skills that are useless in PVE; tri-bind, one ilm punch, leg/foot graze, etc, and become useful in PVP.
