Oh please say what you will about the price but no it isn't pay to win in the slightest.

That's kinda my point, but the pricetag is there - higher than any other gear - because it's specifically designed to be useful until level 30. Even the Lightning gear - which is Base Level 13 - is only basic gear and isn't really useful at all beyond 20 and the Base Level is only a nod to the fact that it's from FFXIII. But it's negligible. And yes there are plenty of other pieces that also have the experience bonus. I was being facetious, as evidenced by my use of quotation marks.

The point of this thread is that it is a piece of clothing... virtual going for eighteen dollars. Not even a premium costume in Street fighter costs that much. Never have I mentioned it is too expensive FOR ME. I am talking about VALUE.

While value is subjective... I will never defend the pricing of this item as it is ridiculous. Maybe on a Christmas sale I'll consider it if it is 3 dollars but right now this is a huge slap in the face.

This is true. After I bought the dress I was able to solo all of the new Alexander Savage raid. I would not have been able to do that without the 30% exp below level 30 bonus with no stats.

Why can't the outfit go to all of the characters you created instead of just one?

They weren't going to put the dress in as an in game reward. They weren't going to give it to us at all until there was such strong feedback asking for it.

Regardless, with the number of players being very willing to pay the money for it I think the chances of it's price being brought down is extremely low. Personally I don't mind. I would love it for Glamour but I feel SE earns their 15$ a month they get out of me so this extra is something I'm ok with passing by. It will up SE's profits definitely but it will also contribute to the money they have to spend on FF14.

This isn't a reply or retort to your post, I simply wanted to add something after reading your post.

People frequently criticize the Mogstation (cash shop) and talk of it being nothing but a money grab. But as you say, it increases the profits generated by FFXIV, and that is an important thing. SE is a normal for profit company, FFXIV is a major service offering from SE, it costs them money just to provide the service, it costs them money to continue to develope new content and maintain the game and service. So, they need to make a healthy profit to maintain the return on investment in the game. In fact, the more healthy the profit, the more they are able to maintain the game and service, and justify continued investment. If the game continues to perform well, but suffers a subscription setback at some future point, it's past history of good performance will provide justification to ride out the trouble and continue service rather than curtailing it.

Those unhappy about the cash shop, or who think they are taking some principled stand by not buying the Chinese garments need to consider this. Those supporting the game with additional purchases or optional services are in fact providing a healthy future for this game that we all enjoy. By all means, take your stand and ignore the shop, but please stop criticizing the Mogstation and those who pay extra, for extras.

Agreed, for the cost, this should be account wide. The XP bonus is absolutely not worth $18.

Well, people were saying they'd buy it if it was put in the Mogstation so......... no surprises there.
Though I agree with you, I was a bit surprised at the hefty price tag on that one.
