While that review was as biased as you can get, MMORPG.com, not shocking at all. I have never gone on there without asking myself, "What will they say to bash such and such this time?". I don't take them seriously, and most people don't.

I will say however, that I will still not recommend this game to anyone simply because everything Yoshida wants to put in place has not been implemented yet. I want people to experience the game in it's new vision, revamped maps, and new systems in the PS3 version, which is obviously the finished revamp of the game. I don't want to recommend something to someone and then say off this will be fixed soon. I want them to play and simply enjoy it, instead of helping build it up. Plus, none of my friends never stay on an MMO that long, so no point really.

So as I agree with the statement, his are for the wrong reasons. The game has improved immensely and is definitely in a playable state. The user interface lag is nearly non-existent, I don't see why this is brought up. It is just as fast to access something as it was in FFXI. The game is built to function with a controller or mouse/keyboard, he doesn't understand why the interface has to be set up in a certain fashion.

Also, just grinding? Sure if you want to PL, which is being readjusted. Yet, there is a bunch of things to do to level such as side questing, lv.15 and 25 dungeon, and so on. While the best method is grinding, the options are available. He also needs to get out of the state of mind that guildleves are the main focus of the game, this is not true anymore. Guildleves are simply a method of gaining EXP and gil. It is good for the solo players and in no way is the guildleve system enforced upon you. Why overly criticize it?

He also doesn't mention how the difficulty of end game has people hooked in and eager to defeat Ifrit. Needing to build up your gear to be able to face him. He doesn't mention that the game has right now long term goals, which it didn't have pre-1.19 and is a common method practiced in almost all other MMOs.

He doesn't know what he is talking about and obviously the only knowledge he has is by reading what others have said and not truly experienced it himself.

I hate mmorpg.com even if XIV was the best game ever and everyone agreed they would say "omg ui is still crap, so this game is awful" they always look for one reason to totally discredit all progress made like "oh chocobos and airships, what took so long" a dev team change you complete and utter retards, if they actually kept on the game instead of playing w/e awful spammer mmo takes up their time, they would know a dev team change is what took everything so effin long! God, Rift comes out with a new patch and its effing bomb.com off the bat(yes I said that, I was born in 1990, FU)

PS, i dont think the reviewers play the game when they review, they have said blatantly some stuff that's wrong about the game in their "game impressions" leading me to believe they read dev comments and patch notes (more like have interns read them), then they play this telephone type game where one person sends them crap over email, and the last person to get the info is the "reviewer", and so the information is totally effing awful.

This is depressing, i'm still banned from there after I did nothing but disagree with them on the post 1.18 review, I think i'm banned till November, but that review is more of mmorpg.com's bs, while I do agree with alot of it, it is still highly biased, they think they can cover it up with a few good comments, but they go into great detail of how this, that and the other is crap and a sentence saying "hmmmm, I guess I could say the ifrit fight is okish" while I would say it is an accurate review at the time it is still too biased to be a good place for information.

If the ifrit fight is as exciting as he attempted to make it look it should go somthing like this "Patch 1.19 finally allowed players to lock hors with ifrit, this fight is both exciting and requires alot of skill. If players are still debating whether to buy the game or returning players want to give the game a second chance I would say this fight is the most exciting part of the game so far, this alone is almost worth the grind to level 50, however because of the things mentioned above I cannot recomend the game to people at this point"

This would be one of the last paragraphs (ifrit fight would be mentioned earlier to keep people reading) while it is negetive it shows that the reviewer is trying to avoid a biased comment. That was just off the top of my head and could probably be written better in more time but to me seems alot better than the amature reviewers on that website.

I guess you folks who enjoy the game need to get to blogging, maybe start a website that gets tens of thousands of hits a day to combat these unfair depictions of FFXIV.

Do any of you expect the other sites who rated FFXIV so poor at the begining to actually "see the light" in the next 6 months or so before PS3 release?

I think luke warm reviews are the best FFXIV can expect untill they completely trash the current UI and make it very user friendly, completely overhaul combat and make it fun, add an auction house and add lots more content...LOTS. This game over a year after release doesnt have nearly as much content as some MMOs released 5-10 years ago AT THEIR RELEASE.

I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!

you do have to admit that he has some good points. 1.19 is great, nobody is saying otherwise. But is it good enough to turn the game around? Is it enough to attract new players or bring back the ones who left? No it's not.

BUT! 1.19 is just the beginning. The tip of the iceberg. It let's us see what the future holds but we are not there yet. My guess is 1.22 or 1.23 will be the point where the battle system is completely finished, jobs are added, a reasonable amount of gear and content will be there too and MAYBE we will have the UI and new maps by then too. Then and only then will this game be considered a finished product.

Both os these are great points. Showing only one action bar is horrible, and quest reward is a joke. Something like 2 mob kills worth for much much more time.

Since literally beta we have always been 1 patch or a few patches away from a good MMO.

Side quests where really made for lore expansion, so the rewards aren't really the big deal, at least for me. But I do think they could be a bit more inventive.

True but back then we never knew in what direction the games was heading. Now we have a good idea of what's to expect and the major changes are happening only now.. before it was small tweaks here and there.
