You feel like you're getting stronger as you work hard for it and you feel more satisfaction after beating that boss with your new weapon. However, you need to put in a lot of time before you fight this single boss and if the next patch adds a boss with a different weakness, you have to start from scratch and learn another move and go get that weapon that the boss is weak against.
If this continues to go on, there will be a moment where you lose focus and at one point you collapse. That sort of game system is highly addictive with fear and uplift alongside each other with the merit where it's harder to get bored because it forces you to continue spending most of your time.

Of course, we do understand you will get bored of refreshing your item level at one point

With the implementation of apartments, the personal demands for housing will be 100% met. Each ward has 1 apartment with 90 rooms, and we are ready to increase the number of rooms whenever we want. We designed it so 1 ward can have over 500 rooms per apartment, so it will definately be able to cover every player.

What people? You and some others like you? I for one love the current system. It lets players obtain good equipment by working everyday, no RNG involved; everyone's efforts are rewarded. It also gives us new goals to work for every few months (and new glamour possibilities). And last but not least, it's kind to newbies and alts, since those don't have to sweat blood in order to catch up with the veterans. So I'm personally very happy with the route Yoshida has taken.

Actually your efforts mean nothing really. I can log in, do expert, log out, come the next day and repeatedly do that just to get the latest tome gear, making doing anything else like materia melding pointless. because the standard stats from that gear is all you need to do anything. Or I could sit around and wait for the hunt ls to go off and kill them while watching netflix and meet my daily cap quickly. Strongest gear now with perfect melds? Next patch you'll just be standard, nice job on that raid clear btw, shame your gear is now 10ilvls lower than the new tome gear![]()
It all really makes sense to just to sub when a new patch drops. :/

everyone can play like they want , no one is forcing u to stay subbed :P
also i prefer new gear every 3 months, then running around in the same gear for 1 year ^^
but guess tastes are different :P

The people who like it how it is never give good enough reasons except the same old excuse NEW PEOPLE NEW PEOPLE NEW PEOPLE! Thats all I ever see. At least the people who want changes have thought out ideas. But what do I know not much honestly.

someone doesn't give you a reason you find good enough so that means you are allowed to attack them? thought out ideas? to you maybe but that doesn't make it *thought out* it's easy to side with what you like and say its good and that goes for both sides.
there is a millions arguments that we could go through but it's pointless.
you have no proof of how high or low the current sub population is as se will never give out that info saying the game is doom is simply fearmongering that happens every patch and you saying it isn't slim won't ever change what will happen (doesn't mean it can't but that is far from happening)

We have the player made data census, they are not accurate, but giving them 20% error margin, they could be considered a very good evidence to support my claims, again, no, its not SE exact accurate numbers. What we do know from SE tho, is that yoshida supports this model of patching and content releasing under the excuse of "you take a break, go to play something else, then come back".you have no proof of how high or low the current sub population is as se will never give out that info saying the game is doom is simply fearmongering that happens every patch and you saying it isn't slim won't ever change what will happen (doesn't mean it can't but that is far from happening)
How that is a good design philosophy, and a good sign to the health and future of the game, i have absolutely no idea. Just smokes way too high if you ask me. "listening to the silent mayority", what is this, a crappy political campaign slogan?
He said is ok for players stop playing his own game if they belive it became too boring and then come back so it feels fresh again. Thats what we know for certain, and that is certainly a very dissapointing statement when you look to the future of the game.
Personally, i don't want FFXIV to be something people plays for 1 month after each patch and then turn into a empty wasteland (which some servers actually are) but it seems, that is exactly what yoshida wants to happen.
