You're not alone, OP, I was quite disgusted by all those quests. They steal chocobo's freedom (or worse) for money, and I'm supposed to feel sympathy for them or find their work admirable. I was also glad when I finished that part of the story, haha.

Have you reached the achievement yet for killing more than 100,000 Eorzean creatures? I admit I felt a twinge, but when something needs killin', they always come running to me.

Personally, I can't stand chocobos. I'd turn my level 20 bird into dinner if I could be arsed to level culinarian.

I'm not sure we were supposed to feel sympathy for the quest givers as much as take away an understanding of where our chocobos originally came from. Just like in the churning mists where the developers did their best to shatter the illusion that moogles were anything but selfish, lazy fuzzballs reluctantly serving Moglin.

We Totally have scruples. Like when we helped Limsa out of the mess they made by breaking a contract with the kobolds. Or caused near societal collapse in a couple of cities.

I felt that some parts of the Tailfeather quests were trying to make it look like their work was very noble and "respectful". I had a different opinion, though.

step 1:go to chocobo forest
step 2. get your butt kicked by chocobos
step 3 try to not kill one as its mercilessly killing you and your tamed chocobo companion "wark lord"
step 4. come back at the aetheryte in tail feather, angry that all you wanted to do is pick mushrooms in the chocobo forest exvept these wild chocobos keep messing your day up
Step 5:annhialate wild chocobos with extreme prejudice
