I feel the same way. I won't take the sexy away from players who choose to skimp out their characters, but it's just not the kind of sexy I want to portray on my own character. Since day one I have wanted her to be classy, sophisticated, elegant, but still very feminine and attractive. I feel this can be sexy too. Just in a different way. I love the current look on my WHM. I think she encompasses all those things:
In contribution to the thread, I know a lot of players tend to stay away from the basic dolls aka midlander Hyurs, but they are what I find attractive. I knew coming into the game that by choosing the most basic of features, I would actually be quite different from everyone else. The only thing that I really gave my character that is non-human are her violet eyes. I simply wanted her to be pleasant.

Pretty much how I feel about it.I feel the same way. I've become pretty notorious around my little social bubble for being "overly modest" with my character. It becomes like a little mini event when i swap to a low level class without gear and im naked for like 5 seconds. And a few people joke about how I "really need to give bikini tanking a try". there's nothing really wrong with everyone running around half naked if thats what you like, but modestly dressed doesnt mean it's not attractive or sexy.
Honestly, my tank gear is a generic knight in full plate armor, and even my crafter gear is fully clothed-
The skimpiest glamours i Have are on my BRD and NIN showing a bit of skin, but it's not nearly as exposed as I've seen as the norm

Interesting side discussion regarding skimpy outfits. I'm on the fence about them. As a dyed in wool feminist, I deplore the oversexualization of women in game. C'mon! Do we really need plate bikinis when men are covered head to toe in steel?
However, to my surprise, many women like to sexualize their characters. To them, it is a form of empowerment.
Signal feminist male lalafell confusion.
So, I just let people dress how they want and judge them on their actions, not their clothes.
ANYROADS...
Getting back on topic, how we dress is an important part of attractiveness. I can kick myself for not adding it as a variable in this discussion. DOH!
For what it's worth, I like to dress simply.
Kacho would more likely be called cute rather than beautiful. However, those two concepts are not too far apart.
His (my?) tanned skin is a reflection of his time out in the sun. His large blue green hair complements his skin so both seem brighter.
His small nose focuses your attention to his large green eyes, a reflection of his hair. A wide mouth with a huge smile completes the image.
Everything from his skin tone to the curve of his eyebrows was carefully chosen to signal openness and friendliness. However, his round face and short, stout build work against him being considered beautiful. Instead, he is relegated to that fun, little field known as cute which is where I wanted him to be.
Cuteness rocks.

Well at least most leather bikinis look like leather bikinis on men as well.
Since Ninja was mentioned though i like it when ninjas are dressed as ninjas. I know the stereotypical ninja gear is more fiction than truth, and they most likely did dress up as whores when that was needed, but I think there isn't enough real ninja gear. The esoterics gear is really cool though. And it brings out the eyes.
honestly for me, it's not really a feminist thing... probably closer to desensitization at this point. I don't really like digging into the rabbit hole of if it's ok or not. Simple fact is, whether I agree with it or find it attractive doesn't give me the right or authority to police other people and their choices. I think "oh, another catgirl tank in a bikini" and not "oh man, look at that s***."Interesting side discussion regarding skimpy outfits. I'm on the fence about them. Actually on that subject, I REALLY like how they did the domans in that respect... though they had to get them all fantasy'd up for the combat bits....Since Ninja was mentioned though i like it when ninjas are dressed as ninjas. on the topic of gamey stuff though, i dont typically like the ninja hoods- or any hoods- in ff14... makes it look like my character has an unnaturally shrunken head or something. I do like the esoteric chestpiece though... shame the collar clips terribly with my hair choice.

I think we need more femroe love.
I blame my FC mate for converting me :X
Femroes are surprisingly feminine.......... until they stand with their hands on their hips >_>
They're my next to-go race after elezen, since I like tall characters. Glamours are somewhat interchangeable between the two races for me too, but the clipping is so bad (try maid outfit on goon for femroe and see >_<)

Achievement Unlocked: LOLGOON
I'm exactly like this. I stay away from anything revealing or skimpy. Even when leveling. I just skip the subligar. I don't wear the coatees with chest all out and stuff lol. I would never find myself like that IRL and I guess it transfers to the game.. I'm okay with showing arm though. Sometimes leg if it's a skirt I like(in-game)
I don't mind wearing something revealing as long as it still fits how I want my character to be seen. Like a previous picture I have on here with the thavarian dress. I wear that with Ast. and I feel it fits the job well. I do occasionally wear a swimsuit but that's usually outside my house since I live in the mist. Beach and swimwear just go togetherIt depends on my job and/or what I'm doing. Kinda like dressing up for the part.
Most of the time tho it's like this picture that I do. Shows some skin, gives a bit of softer side without being overly sexualized. I use this when I'm crafting. I craft massively so I may as well look nice while I spend hours at a time doing this.
I will note that I am a female player. I enjoy looking elegant while at the same time being able to be fierce.

I can get on board with that. If I mained jobs like SMN, AST, or BLM I would probably allow more skin to be shown as I can see them being on a darker, sexier side of the spectrum. I'll wear my bikini when roaming Costa Del Sol, and I also confess how fabulous the coatees make my boobs look when crafting. I chose the max slider so they're about to spill out of that thing, but I like boobs so sue me lol. Just because I wasn't blessed in that department doesn't mean my character has to be denied alsoI don't mind wearing something revealing as long as it still fits how I want my character to be seen. Another example is my PGL soon to be MNK. When I think of martial artists, I don't think of heavy armor. I think of a combination of very light fabrics, and skin. Pretty much only the hands and feet are protected. This is my current look which has glams over heavier armor that comes the closest I can find to this image. So even though there is quite a bit of skin showing, it's for what would be functional purposes for a RL fighter who can't be weighed down by heavy equipment:
