I would like to officially petition for the removal of FATEs from all future content

Hello everyone, just like the topic says I would like to see FATEs excluded from all future content. Not removed from the game, FATEs still have their uses.

From what I can gather, FATEs are the single most hated activity in this game when a piece of content like relics, [the yo-kai] events and the like are involved. The reason? You have to run hundreds of them to get anywhere every single time said content requires more than a dozen or so FATEs.

Hence the hate for them, every time FATEs are needed in abundance, its a race to see how many hundreds of FATEs the dev. team can have us do before we either get lucky or get sick of them and I would see this stop. Permanently.

How about you all, would you like to see unnecessary FATE grinds (the ones that need hundreds of FATEs) stopped from ever happening again? I know I would.

He's talking about FATEs being part of content, not what you grind for exp.

Yes please. All related to FATEs is kind of forced on us, we can't turn off the FATE alert, we join it as soon as we step into it even though we might be gathering, the music can't be toggled etc etc etc.
I can see the utility of levelling, get some achievements, minions and so on, but I don't want them to be the core of events or quests. Too much. I understand FATEs were the main feature when FF14 ARR was promoted, but I really don't like them, maybe the NM ones, but I could play the game just as fine if they completely removed FATEs from the game. For me it was definetly not the main reason I bought this game.

The best way, & I was thinking about this last night after my continuing grind for Legendary Yokai, is to tighten the sync levels for FATEs. As it stands, it's possible to highly over gear & over level them which makes it almost impossible for anyone who is trying to do the fate at the intended level.

I noticed last night that whilst I was levelling Pugilist there would be others who'd be at lvl60 would run in & obliterate the vast majority of mobs using a a couple of AoEs before I could even get my moves off. It made it incredibly unpleasant.

I'd also suggest that you have to stay in the FATE area (purple marker) & synced until the FATE ends to stop people running in, killing a couple of mobs, then leaving one low level player to deal with it yet they get full credit!

And why is that an issue? Because those high leveled and equipped people are pushed into FATEs, which is precisely what the OP states as his issue with FATEs >_>

Did you read what OP said? He's wanting to NOT be forced to do fates. Your suggestion would make the fates take longer to kill making it even worse for those of us being forced to do them.

It's an issue because people are pushed into FATEs come into direct conflict with those doing them to level. I didn't put "I agree with the OP" in my post but maybe it would have put my response into context.

As I said to the poster above you, I should have stated at the beginning of my post "I agree with the OP". FATEs are a nightmare way of doing promotional things, I am currently slaving through Yokai but also levelling jobs & I find it deeply unpleasant.

My concern is that people who are genuinely levelling, & maybe new to FFXIV, rather than gathering items are screwed over. They should remove FATEs from the promotional system altogether or make it so that you're guaranteed a drop if you do it "as if" you were levelling, as per my suggestion.

This is not really a big issue. There is almost always a FATE PF available the levelling player can join. Or, just ask to party up.
Once in the party, the low player just needs to tag each mob with a DoT skill and will be guaranteed a Gold rating on the FATE.
The high level players do the killing and the low level players get the XP.

As for OP, FATES were never the issue, the spawn rate of the required FATE was. Or, drop rate of the item.

I gave up on the yokai event after two weapons, and the first mount. I don't care how rare this will be. It's just too much, and don't get me started on how much I hate anima weapons.
