Buying character slots?

i honestly didn't know this was an issue. I don't mean to troll...just me but i can have all my classes on one character.

I understand difference races...but i would assume you would probably have a few extra characters for the different races. I never knew there was a group of people who needed more slots open.

Having alts prevents people from joining servers. Think of the 2 people who cant get on Tonberry server because I have 2 alts that I never use, just sitting there for no reason. Same with the Gilgamesh server.

Everything we've ever seen suggests that the restriction are actually based on the number of people logged in, not total number of characters created.

Evidence to support this is that we know the easiest time to create a character for most normal servers (i.e. not Balmung and Gilgamesh) is early in the morning or straight after a maintenance before people login.

So you having 2 alts won't stop 2 people creating a character as you're only logged in on one at a time.

If you have your alts on another account though and log in both at the same time, that's another story

No it doesn't. Whether someone can make a new character depends exclusively on how many characters are ACTIVELY LOGGED IN at the moment. That's why low traffic periods when few people are logged in are the easiest times to make new characters. Additional alts you're not logged in with at the moment have nothing to do with it.

The only thing you do actually tie up by having multiple alts is their names. Nobody can use those same names for their new character. But it doesn't prevent anyone from joining a server if they come up with unique names for their character(s).
