It's egotistical rubbish and players are only complaining about it because it takes away their sense of superiority through having something other players don't.

I will ask it again and again and again. What is wrong with that? If not for sense of superiority we would be still living in caves. This is exactly what drives people to wake up in the morning and do stuff. That's just how humanity works.
