The majority wants gold and diamonds and money too, why should only rich people be able to have those things? What other reason would there be? Is not everything that is implemented in this game there because a majority wants it? The JPN exclusive items were supposed to remain just that, but we ended up with them after a hundred threads demanded EU/ NA get them too. Funny how exclusivity was a terrible thing then, but not here.
I want them, therefore, I should have them
Because real life gold and diamonds and money are vastly different from a virtual animal already provided in a game, and it is sad you have to be informed of that.
It is MMO virtual world, therefore real life rules must apply here too, because in this virtual world we deal with exactly same people and their desires/capabilities as in real world, and it is sad you have to be informed of that (even sadder that Yoshida must be informed that this is MMO, too).
Allow me to put it in a simpler way. FFXIV - Square Enix, whatever - is a company. We are their customers. As customers, we ask for things that it is in their power to give us, and as a company, they provide it to keep us as customers. It is MMO virtual world, therefore real life rules must apply here too, because in this virtual world we deal with exactly same people and their desires/capabilities as in real world, and it is sad you have to be informed of that (even sadder that Yoshida must be informed that this is MMO, too).
It is in no one's power or interest to give you gold or diamonds.
SE is the company of this game. They can select who to keep as their customer. If there is somethjng they don't like and don't see it suitable they reject you. Some players will find a way to continue purchasing the goods or other just leave. There will be more people and coming and leaving and returning. That is the cycle of demand and supply.Allow me to put it in a simpler way. FFXIV - Square Enix, whatever - is a company. We are their customers. As customers, we ask for things that it is in their power to give us, and as a company, they provide it to keep us as customers.

That logic doesn't fly. I understand you are a paying customer, but that doesn't entitle you to have anything and everything that you THINK you should get.
These things were given out for a reason. Things like event prizes and rewards, even things from 1.0, those were given out to players that took part in whatever content rewarded it at the time.
If you did not take part in that content, you did not earn those items. If you didn't earn the items, there's no reason for you to get them. That permanently devalues the items for the players that have them, and is a huge slap in the face to them when they were told they were getting exclusive things.
You don't get things simply because you want them. Life is full of opportunities, if you missed your chance, for reasons in your control or otherwise, you missed your chance. Tough.
Well, technically it does - you're certainly entitled to ask, anyway, as long as it isn't beyond the realm of reason. And 3 year old items vet players hardly touch doesn't seem unreasonable to me. They've had 3 years of "exclusivity", 1.0 has been dead a long time and as I said in a previous post, I find it childish how legacy players still expect preferential treatment.
That's exactly what I'm talking about, this "devaluing" nonsense. It's egotistical rubbish and players are only complaining about it because it takes away their sense of superiority through having something other players don't.
"You don't get things simply because you want them" - actually, that's how the added extras in FFXIV work. The JPN items. The sleeping poses. Nerfs. Mogstation items... what would have happened if SE had simply gone "you don't live in Japan so you can't get the maid/ butler items, tough lol."
I will ask it again and again and again. What is wrong with that? If not for sense of superiority we would be still living in caves. This is exactly what drives people to wake up in the morning and do stuff. That's just how humanity works.
And the further we go the less egotistical "rubbish" this game provides. That's why out of 9 millions of people who tried this game, only 225k decided to keep playing.
What would have happened? With this crowd they would have marched to the squeenix offices and set the buildings on fire. Which is childish but my god there's just SO MUCH WHINING from people that want things that they rightfully dont deserve.
I think its egotistical of you to think that you should get something just because you think you should have it, and because YOU THINK that it shouldnt be exclusive anymore. And it's not just legacy players that are tired of the entitled whining, I've only been on the game for maybe a year and a half, and i'm sick of everyone wanting eeeeeverything.
I find it childish that you view someone giving people something AS A REWARD, as preferential treatment. I wouldnt go up to an olympic athlete, and say "You got a medal as a reward, but you got it 3 years ago, thats plenty of time for you to have it. I want a medal now even though I didnt compete, SO THEY NEED TO GIVE ME A MEDAL!
That, is childish. It's like a toddler going through the "mine" phase.

Okey. So, let's say I have legacy chocobo, that I earned somehow. All value it has is in exclusivity, other than that it's just simple chocobo with painting. And I'm also a customer. So, I ask SE to not to give this chocobo to you, because it will lose all value for me.Allow me to put it in a simpler way. FFXIV - Square Enix, whatever - is a company. We are their customers. As customers, we ask for things that it is in their power to give us, and as a company, they provide it to keep us as customers.
It is in no one's power or interest to give you gold or diamonds.
But you want to have this chocobo really hard, because ... painting! So, what SE is supposed to do? Are you or me as customer more important to SE? How should they decide?
