My only horror story I got was my first time running Halatali. I was still new to tanking with my GLD at the time but after like the second or third trash group one of the dps said something along the lines of "do you know how to use your abilities". I told them I believe I do and we moved on. We get to the first boss and I don't know the mechanics and we end up wiping on it. After the wipe the dps from earlier calls me a bad tank and I got kicked from the group. Oh I was ready to start cursing at that guy.

The healer was spamming Cure 2 throughout the Praetorium and kept pulling aggro from me.

I took a break from tanking and went fishing/botany for a month after that.

Levelled loads of stuff, crafted some shinies, unlocked another Pally skill, was feeling pretty good. Switch to Pala, hit DF to try out new shinies, feeling confident and awesome. Sastasha Normal (ugh). Marking like a boss, constantly moving, no downtime, everything going smooth. You couldn't hope for a nicer run through that boring place. After second boss, Monk decides to stop hitting marks and do his own thing, whatever, smooth bores people. Politely ask him not to as I can focus on damage and less chance of stray mobs, but get ignored. Last boss, tank it two steps away from a bubble-grate so I can stun him and stop it myself, saving people hassle. I moved twice to do this.

"Stop movin -_-" I'm told.

Boss dies, guy blurts out "Learn how to tank next time" and insta-leaves.

This is what you get when you try to make life easier for people. I should sign up as tank, AFK or spam non-combo'd abilities and let DPS do whatever. Maybe then I might get treated like a human.

Five words: Worst Aurum Vale run ever.

I initially joined on dps in progress for mentor roulette. Seeing there was no tank, and it was less than 5 min in progress, I figured the tank had gotten in there and insta abandoned. I left, changed to WAR, and rejoined in progress, getting the same group just as a dps was saying "might be better off requeuing" I got in there and they said oh hey, nevermind!

My first indication of trouble was during the mobs on the way to the first boss. The healer would constantly Stone II (out of cleric stance) until I was at half health, then start throwing Cure IIs at me. For most of the dungeon until later this was pretty much the only two spells we'd see from the WHM.

But we made it, then I did a quick ready check and pulled the boss. About two thirds of the way through the fight, the WHM died, unable to deal with party damage and the debuff stacks. I'm not sure if they ate fruit or not. I popped what few cool downs I had left, kept up storms path, and jammed on bloodbath which was almost off cool down, and held on for the dps as long as I possibly could. The melee died before I did. I Holmganged, but self heals at level 49 can't keep up with the Locksmith's damage. I died, willing the BLM to make it through those last few percentage points, and returned. The boss room unsealed and a shortcut opened in front of me - they'd made it!

The pulls on the way to Coincounter were worrisome but nothing too bad. I can't remember if someone died there or not. I just remember after Coincounter was a series of the worst pulls I'd ever been through as a tank. The WHM spent most of it using stone II out of cleric stance over and over. I Holmganged more than I've ever used that skill in a single dungeon. I died, followed by a party wipe, a total of three times on the way to the last boss. I and the other dps begged the WHM to heal more, to keep me alive, even using auto translate to ask for specific healing skills. Their user info was in French so I even made a few requests and comments in French, receiving silence as my reply, though they did use divine seal and regen a few times after I specifically named those skills using auto translate.

We made it to the boss after an agonizing 50 minutes. Then a replay of the first boss was enacted, where the WHM took damage, simply wasn't using abilities up to par, died - returned, and left the dungeon.

We were all kind of stunned. "We carried her through the whole thing only for her to drop here?" They got the mapping achievement at the final boss so they hadn't cleared the whole dungeon. Then the phenomenal BLM, who I'd planned on comming after the first (out of four times) that WHM let me die, volunteered to drop and return as a healer. We got a MCH dps replacement promptly who said "what fresh hell is this?" and we told him he had no idea, and thanked the BLM who returned as SCH.

After that it was a completely different dynamic. The SCH buffed us, we charged forward, and everyone was at peak performance. The SCH succored and put up dots. The dps were on point. We wrecked the Morbol Mistress's day. At the end I was so relieved I could have embraced the exit.

I've never hated tanking Aurum Vale before. People will tell you I have the patience of a saint. But boy, I sure hated that run. One of the worst ever, in any dungeon.

This happened to me today.
Expert Hullbreaker hard, got a BLM that never once used any of it's 50+ skills, defaulting to the classic 50 rotation.

I've never hated tanking Aurum Vale before. People will tell you I have the patience of a saint. But boy, I sure hated that run. One of the worst ever, in any dungeon.

Well, the number of WHMs doing stuff like this is alarming lately.
How about 2 runs in a row with different (!) WHMs who did the same thing, namely spamming cure1 and using cure2 in panic mode, seemingly having the logic like this:
"Cure is a good spell, doesn't drain my mana so much; tank takes too much damage, have to cure2, bad, bad tank, now need mana to regen". I've waited. Every. Damn. Pull. Of. 3. Mobs.
Cause healer was at 0 mp quite often even with me burning/rotating cooldowns... Well, on cooldown.
Couldn't pass the first boss before I told him to regen me and medica otherwise (healer was spamming cure2 which was both slow and expensive way to heal in aoe, apparently).
I don't own a WHM myself but i've observed enough to know some very basics to tell him (in fact, both of these guys, second knew how to regen, at least) what to do, we were able to kill the boss but then the same goes on. Thankfully, last boss hurts less than the first and damage is more manageable.

Didn't think I'd ever need to tell WHM to use at least some aoe heals.
Still love AV, but people do horrible there more often than not.

Omg i had a smn doing this in i think it was fractal or always reap.. wasn't even getting dreadwyrm stacks so hadn't even done the quests. And was wearing wrong accessories as well. I typed out a nice message along the lines of "heey. We gunna boot you for the following reasons" and i listed them off. Then initiated vote kick. Lazy is worse than not knowing your job.

When the DPS does not follow the kill order in Sastasha and when the Conjurer (Level Synced) heals for 32 HP OUTSIDE of Cleric Stance. (Not that Cleric Stance healing is that bad in low level dungeons anyway.)

I tend to get good tanks, but I imagine a lot of people have horror stories of me tanking.
