They did, and they also explained in interviews why they decided to focus more on the SMN than the pet in terms of job design, IIRC they had a very good reason that I was ok with.
The general consensus between summoners is that the egi do not look fine as-is, and never have; they're giant lifeless blobs. Carbuncles actually had some emotion to them and actually looked like something you wanted to pet.
Even giving two/three cloned summon spells where the only change is a model swap to carbuncle would be a start of showing a lot of love towards summoners. They obviously don't want to do that because it's a cheap way out of giving people what they want. No, it HAS to be some mechanic/quest/whatever/interface they develop instead of a slight rewrite of a script.
I guess I just don't agree. I think they look cool. So what they don't look *exactly* like the primal; they're not supposed to. I'm also not in favor of breaking the lore since Summoners are supposed to wield the power of the primals we've defeated, and I'm not seeing how the carbuncles apply to that.
I would be in favor of retexturing them so Ifrit doesn't look crappy up close but honestly it's just not something I want developers spending time on. No one in-game ever talks about this, only people whining about broken promises on the forums. If they were to add additional summons, how would these even be different? We have a caster, a melee, and a pseudo-tank. What more do people want? Some say the devs are lacking imagination/creativity but I've yet to see any suggestions for a wholly unique & useful summon that wouldn't replace one we already have.

Wonderous trials miqote npc will more than likely have carby glamour for some of her rewards (not out yet). She is a carby master and has a ruby carbuncle as her pet.
The devs want to give a treat to smns but they don't want to invest lots of developer time into 1 class when there is plenty of other meaningful things they could be doing.
I am pleased about the carby stuff, I was always sad to lose those pets from my arcanist.
Nobody likes/wants the current summons, so instead of making brand new stuff, they will just add the exisiting carby models and skill animations and everyone is happy and case closed.
If you are one of those people who can't accept developer direction, time constraints, developer costs, initiative, then honestly too bad for you, I am happy with their decision of the actual smn character being more powerful than the summons.
SCH too plz. :[
I feel there should be a glamour for summoners, considering it doesn't make too much sense that they can just no longer be able to summon carbuncle, despite being more skilled than an arcanist. honestly i rather have caster carbie or tank carbie over garuda, and i definitely dislike titan. feel topaz carbuncle is way more hype.
but this isn't the only glamour issue. the biggest i feel is gender exclusive, which is terrible for this type of game or any game where you can make your own character.
I also agree with my predecessor: the egi primals are essentially ugly. I prefer carbuncle and I felt they were way more efficient. i understand that they might want to distinguish arcanist from summoner, but i do not care: summoner is pretty much just a stronger arcanist....

Yeah, Titan Egi looks absolutely terrible. Good thing he's not usable in 97% of content.

I didn't see it either and he said "in the LL on the 14 hour stream we will be announcing everything in 3.4"
perhaps he meant battle content wise? Because there was no hair styles shown or glamour outfits..and we always get those![]()

No, not everyone has a disdain for them. I do agree mayhaps bringing in new primals eventually, but I am one of I could presume many to not want a silly carbuncle or fairy.

They have stated that the system will launch with 1 glamour, and each patch after will also have 1, so I would expect carbuncles in the patch it comes in, then more interesting glamours in the following patches
