But it would definitely keeps coil relevant, w/o having to keep sending us back just for glamour/material for glamour/mount. Also, we are STILL doing coil, might not be you, but people are still farming coils for glamour materials and mounts. It's more of, you already completed it and got what you wanted, why should you need to go back in for someone else feeling...

I think my issues are a bit more convoluted than "I want gear to last longer". Here me out~

XIV, like XI, is rare in the fact that they let you level all jobs on one character. I've always loved that about both games. The issue with XIV is that it feels like they are trying to keep you playing 1-2 jobs max (maaaybe 3) if you are wanting to keep them well geared.

With the tomes caps as they are, it takes quite a bit of time to fully gear out your main job, and then you can eventually start working on your 2nd job and so on. Ages ago I tried to keep both my bard and white mage geared, and it felt like all I was doing was grinding tomes for the upgrades, and then by the time I finished my bard, the new tomes would drop and I'd get to start all over.

I'm not knocking those who truly just love to run dungeons for the fun of it, but that is not enjoyable to me. I like to be able to work for my gear, and then put my new strength towards the end-game content of my choosing. I've always wanted to branch out with my jobs, but the above situation prevents me from bothering. I am not comfortable bringing undergeared jobs to end-game content when I know I have a WHM that would be far more useful to the group.

With XI, as I'm sure most everyone knows by this point, gear could last you a very long time, and you were always adding little pieces here and there. This gave you ample time to work on building other gear sets for other jobs, while still keeping up your main job as well. While things took far longer, it did provide more flexibility in the long run.

Back to XIV - a huge perk for me would be if they changed the weekly tomes cap to be per job instead of just a flat cap for everything. That way those who want to gear up multiple jobs now have the option to do it in a relatively decent time frame and can move on to the other (more enjoyable) content of their choosing. would actually love for them to remove the tomes cap all together, but that's a thing for dreams only

I would be OK with gear lasting 4-6 months as long as I get to actually enjoy that gear for the majority of the time. I don't want to be grinding tomes for my additional jobs a week before a new tomestome is released. :X

I hear you. I may not agree with some of it, but I respect your opinion. I will agree that I'd like to see better ways of gearing alt jobs for endgame. After all, sometimes it's fun to run as a different role!

Perhaps a happy middle can be made with gear that would satisfy most players. (Who am I kidding, nobody's ever satisfied here. xD)

I have zero issues with gear progression in this game. I had TONS of issues with gear progression in XI, and I feel like XIV fixed a lot of this madness. Granted XI didn't have a glam system when I was playing, and it's an important factor in XIV. It seems more often than not, the items we use to glam are harder to acquire than your next iLv upgrade.

Example 1: My WHM is currently using a self-made HQ Cedar Crook (iLv115), and I have glamoured over it using a NQ Alkalurops (iLv70). The former is a lv51 recipe with dirt cheap mats. The latter is a 50** recipe with specific Craftmanship and Control requirements to even attempt the synth, and requires expensive mats from unspoiled ARR nodes.

Example 2: My SCH is currently using an augmented Ironworks Magitek Codex (iLv130). I WANT to glam it with the Diamond Codex (iLv 115). The former is gained with mindlessly acquired Poetics. The latter requires lord knows how many EX Shiva runs to get the mats, all of which are high demand, low supply. It's all about those glams.

So you get an easily obtained upgrade, you give it the look of the glam you worked your ass off for, and it lasts as long as you want it to. Don't tie and gag me for saying this, but it seems to be that the happy medium has already been established??

    Glamour is true endgame \o/

I respect everyone's views in this game. Although I may disagree, I wouldn't kick you from a LS or nag at you. Everyone has their own opinions. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

Wish XIV would borrow more ideas from its predecessor and not WoW. The thing I don't want back, though, is wasted time shouting for a party in Jeuno. I love the DF for instance. Still, the combat it shallow and too button mashy, especially if all you do (as DRG in my case) is get 10% more DMG or whatever. It's rather boring after a while. Still, I really, really appreciate that I can get stuff done in a timely fashion, unlike in XI.

The Diamond Codex isn't crafted. You farm the book, and turn in 10 (or did they reduce it to 5?) Diamond Dust to upgrade it. So, assuming you get the book within those same ten runs, you will have your Diamond Codex. It may be harder to get the Ice Codex than the upgrade items, because the upgrade items are guaranteed and the Codex is not.
