Instead of giving us 12 different voice options for each race they could've given us more body sliders. We shouldn't even ask for 1.0 butt, we should expect having a butt slider, and sliders for different body features too such as leg thickness, waist, etc... It's the bare minimum. Or atleast different body shape options ala Guild Wars 2 (let's say the one we currently have would be the standard body type, then we'd have an even skinnier body type, then a curvier sexy body type, and a chubby body type, with only 3 more models you'd satisfy a lot more people) if they're too lazy to make sliders.
I really hope that when they drop the PS3 support we'll get an improved character creation with a lot more features. I'd be really disappointed if they don't give us that, considering that a ton of free to play games have a crapton of sliders and a very complete character creation while being actually older than FFXIV and also having way better hair physics.

this really triggered me. ps3 limitiations? you know i have to admit back in my teen years sporting a ps1 there were WRESTLING games out there with much more customization and sliders available, and this is just 1 form of game on a lower level than even ps3 limitiations that allowed this stuff...but that was back in the day, with 1mb memory cards, im sure that the the mb required would just explode the servers now,i mean theyre right, its just too much. ps3 limitations, anything really, as if a ps3 cant handle thigh thickness or whatnot....
I don't think body sliders are a PS3 limitation. I think it's more of a "gear creation limitation." The more variety you allow players on their characters, the more "hooks" you need to apply to your gear to ensure there's no clipping. Wildstar has a fantastic character creation, very detailed. It also resulted in a certain pair of pants on a certain of my characters to look like a thong, as my ass cheeks clipped through them just right. It was amusing, but quite embarrassing too! The game you mentioned is not a game that comes with lots of variety of gear. They all wear a certain outfit and don't change. So of course you can have more customization.this really triggered me. ps3 limitiations? you know i have to admit back in my teen years sporting a ps1 there were WRESTLING games out there with much more customization and sliders available, and this is just 1 form of game on a lower level than even ps3 limitiations that allowed this stuff...but that was back in the day, with 1mb memory cards, im sure that the the mb required would just explode the servers now,i mean theyre right, its just too much. ps3 limitations, anything really, as if a ps3 cant handle thigh thickness or whatnot....
I'm not excusing SE. Their character creation is very archaic. There needs to be way more face options, and more variety in hair styles (no race should be subjected to 4 identical hair styles with different color barrettes like I mentioned above), and different builds. I don't necessarily think every inch of my body should have a slider, but I do think that not EVERY Elezen should have identical bodies with only different size boobs.

I think it mostly has to do with how much gear they include with every 2 patches. 7 sets for Tomestones, 7 sets for raids, 28 sets for dungeons, 7 crated sets, 7 sets for 24 man is 56 total sets. 6 races takes it to 336 sets, add in 2 genders and you have 668 unique pieces of gear, not including glamour. That is a ton for a 7 month period. They took the approach of quantity over quality.
Many of us have disagreed with this design philosophy but I will agree with you. I don't see them changing back to quality over quantity.

Reading too much of the forums makes me very sad and apathetic.
