More hairstyles, and more face options. Def unlock Au Ra faces.
I'd also like to see more facial scar and tattoo options that aren't race-locked.

I want to be able to get my highland's ponytail on my Au Ra. I miss that hair style so much. ya know, the one with the ringlets and hair over one eye?
"Welcome to the ranks of the blue mages. However, at this moment you are but an empty vessel--a base creature, weaker than the most ordinary mortal. A blue mage must wrest her strength and vitality from her enemies. Show me your hunger for unrivaled power! This is the only guidance I shall give you."
~ Final Fantasy XI Treasures of Aht Urhgan

I am happy with my character and don't really see myself changing her much.
More hair styles would be interesting..especially the female one that actually won...the high braid pony tail -_- It would be amazing if we could have our 1.0 bodies back...I must admit lol.
vs now

Honestly, I would not mind if they didn't add a new race in 4.0 only if they greatly expanded the custom options for the existing races. As it stands now there are tons of clones running around with some races have that one-face syndrome.
(I'm looking at you female Au Ra Face 1)

Lalafell have a set a pigtails with ribbons that do the same thing, and the old Y'shtola hair had a silver and gold clip version.
It's actually a leftover from 1.0. There were only 4 haircuts per race and gender, so they had an option to change clip or ribbon color. 2.0's designers just opted to list them as separate styles, since that's probably how they were programmed in, anyway.

Is it me or the whole graphic quality was way better in 1.0 ? I didn't play 1.0 but everytime I see pictures of it I find it way more beautiful than what the game looks like now.
A little example that I found on Google by just typing FFXIV 1.0 :
The lighting seems better, the shadows look better, the hair looks like actual hair, the textures seem to look better too. Looks like an upgraded version of what we have here. Wtf happened ?

1.0 did not run very well on low end computers and I don't think it would ever have run on the PS3. So they dropped the polygon count on everything, made low Res textures, changed lighting and other things and launched it as the new and improved version of the game.Is it me or the whole graphic quality was way better in 1.0 ? In some ways. 2.0 was better than 1.0, in others, 1.0 was better.

Reading too much of the forums makes me very sad and apathetic.
Because it was better. It was also too much.Is it me or the whole graphic quality was way better in 1.0 ? I didn't play 1.0 but everytime I see pictures of it I find it way more beautiful than what the game looks like now.

Outsourcing, lack of direction, and lack of experience with this game genre were what happened. Development back then was focused almost entirely on graphics--which is a big selling point in the FF series--but hardly anything on actually making a playable game.
Some players stuck with it, but for most, it was a disaster. And that put SE in a really bad position.
Yoshida took over and saw what was available was mostly unsalvageable. So he had development working overtime to practically remake the game from the ground up, while also pushing for improvements to make 1.0 playable until 2.0 could be released. And so it's "A Realm Reborn".

I think that face is so popular from how non-invasive the horns and facial scales are.Honestly, I would not mind if they didn't add a new race in 4.0 only if they greatly expanded the custom options for the existing races. I feel like all Miqo'te girls look the same. Actually messing with the creator show that face 1 and 3 have the same eyes...
