#GetSelliBack2018
Reading too much of the forums makes me very sad and apathetic.
The problem is that the ilevel curve far exceeds that of 2.0. in 2.0 the AF1.5 gear is almost enough to get you to the MSQ content (I say almost because you still need the accs and weapon to get the last 3 dungeons), and certainly the accs can be obtained at the three dungeosn where the gear cna take you. In Heavenward, the Dungeons have higher ilevel limits and the gear can only take you as far as the 3.3 dungeons, which unlike 2.4's already have gear. I think that the AF2 armor will be sold at Clan Centurio's shop in Ishgard or that a new NPC will be introduced to sell them for tokens thta you cannot get from any dungeons
The only thing I'm curious about is if the old gear that's now with Clan Centurio will get recolors in 4.0 as new leveling gear as Poetics gear did. At least, I think it's Poetics... May have been Soldiery, but basically the Dawnstar, Evenstar, Astrum, Gloam, etc. gear. It was all given a muted recolor and put in as the "Aurum Regis" sets.
I'm hoping the Doman sets get the same treatment as hunts are painfully time consuming in 3.0 since no one really teams up for it anymore, so you're stuck with the solo-friendly hunts. :/
I really wanted the tank and healer sets.
What else is new?
*Faceplants table*
Tomestones....more tomestones @_@
I wonder where the Esoteric gear will go.
I hope they put it on the level 60 class quests+calamity salvager...but I know they won't do that. V_V
I wonder what the new tomestones for patch 3.45 will be called.
I want gear that's relevant to drop in dungeons again.. give me a reason to run them u_u'
And do we even need an ilvl increase? It feels... bloated, or it's rising too quickly. It used to be 2.0 hard mode dungeons were released with no ilvl increase.
Actually ilvl increases coincide with the typical tome/raid cycling as new Raids are introduced, and even in 2.0 the ilevel of the gear you get from 2 dungeons increased by patch
Likewise the maximum ilevel would not change for two patches, the 2nd of which will try to help players get through the current hardcore raid fast, which is why the alliance raids dropped upgrade mats, why Thodian's Reign and Nidhogg's rage has weapons just shy off the maximum ilevel and also why the relic and dungeons get closer to the same cap in the 2nd patch of the cycle
- Initial Endgame Dungeons: i55
- 2.1: 60
- 2.2: 70
- 2.3: 80
- 2.4: 90
- 2.5: 100
The rising ilevels are more in part to a concept introduced within the middle of 2.X: Upgradable gear, previously exclusive to the relic but heavily simplified for tomestone gear. This concept alowed you to turn in a piece of certain gear along with a token to make it dyable and add 10 ilevels on it (before you ask, the upgraded gear is technically considered a new item so materia, and such are lost upon upgrading and you have to physically unequip it to upgrade it). With that removed, the Ironworks set would be on par with i100 dungeon sets (whether or not the Raid drops would be simialr depend on if the devs would treat tomestone gear an alternate endpoint or a mere steeping stone). That is not the only factor. The Gap had been widened by an increment of 10 because of the decision to have 2 difficulties for the raid, whch meant the Gordian gear (i90) drove a wedge between the two Tome sets, with the same thing happening again with Midas (and the decision to make crafted gear closer to the ilevel)
in 2.0 the pattern was Tome>Tome>Tome>Upgrade>Tome>Upgrade. In Heavenward the pattern is now Tome>Upgrade>Normal Alex>Tome>Upgrade>NM Alex/Craft>Tome>Upgrade, with each gear in these steps being in increments of 10

My guesses;
Hunts - Already get Law gear from those now though.
Dungeons - No 3.0 version of Antiquated gear yet.
Grand Company Seals - We're getting new ranks after all.
Platoon Missions - Since they're likely going to need to reward something...
Wondrous Tails - Same as above.
