    Grand Company conquests

    Hi guys, my first post on this forum!

    Here's my idea and please let me know what you all think (and hopefully the devs too if they're reading).

    In the future let's add a feature similar to the signet option in FFXI, it would be granted to the highest of ranks of the select grand company and in which any players partaking in events like FATES, quests, crafting/gathering dailies, would win/attribute conquest points to a 3 nation/company ranking on the world map (or internal feature), and let's say on every saturday it would be tallied up to give the winning nation/company results.

    The winning grand company players would then be granted with a bonus effect much like the free company bonuses (i.e. EXP bonus, durability bonus, etc). The effect would then last till the next tallied results.

    Would you guys think? Suggestions?

    I have to say no for this idea.

    For one thing, the lore and setting actually prevent such a system from being implemented (and not just because of Gridania's pact with the elementals who will always protect the Black Shroud from outside incursion or invasion, thus preventing such a system from ever being implemented even if they wanted to), and FFXI has totally different circumstances behind the status of the nations in the game. In FFXI, you had the recent Crystal War against the beastmen where the Alliance of Altana set up Conquest as a means of solving the issue of how to properly guard the areas outside their city walls from beastmen raids with depleted manpower in the aftermath of the war (by using adventurers to do so) - the beastmen were far more antagonistic than they are here, where in Eorzea the beast tribes are more likely to just summon a Primal and let their false god do all the dirty work for them.

    Hence in that situation the Warrior of Light is just dispatched to take the Primal down and beat up the beastmen, no complicated tug of war over area control needed. The areas outside each city state are effectively under the control of the nearest city by default accordingly and each city of the Alliance seems to actually recognize this, as each city are too concerned trying to deal with their own problems that the Calamity left them with to worry about having to deal with controlling other territory as well (more refugees to feed, more lands to have to man, fortify and supply etc). So for that alone I do not see a Conquest-type system ever being added I'm afraid.

    To say nothing that gameplay wise Conquest was annoying in FFXI as if an area was not under the control of your home nation you couldn't gain crystals after defeating an enemy, and Outpost warping was more expensive, to say nothing of certain item vendors no longer had stock. And if an area fell to the beastmen, you could no longer warp from the outpost there and warping to it cost a fortune, No, this is just unnecessarily complicating things for complication's sake, so leave it in Vana'diel. It has no place in Eorzea I'm sorry to say.

    If you pvp then obviously you know this is a bad idea as the GC aren't equally balanced. Therefore there will always be 1GC that has the constant bonus.
