While I have yet to encounter that in FFXIV, I did encounter this a lot in WoW, to ridiculous degrees/amounts.

Its partially because ppl dont like to hear negative/complaints/criticism, but in WoW ppl were far less tolerating.

I do imagine it would exist here, but I can only imagine it's more on the side of "string of bad luck".

(similar to how 98% of my dungeon runs are *ssholes, yet when i watch my friends do dungeons, only 25% of their runs are filled with jerks. And every time i resub to the game, thinking my string of bad luck has ended, nope, it hasnt. And neither of us would talk in the dungeon, so its not a matter of what we say/said. And I taught them how to play, so they just do what I do gameplay wise. Sometimes you get shafted, and ur stuck with it.)

Those are some crazy high percentages of jerks in you and your friends dungeon runs 0.0. I'd say I get like 1 jerk per 40 dungeon runs maybe?

I find it interesting that you found WoW less tolerant of criticism. I definitely find FFXIV less tolerant. It could be that I just have more criticism for FFXIV than WoW, so I notice it more here - and vice versa for you.

Generally, I find that people are less tolerant in how criticism is presented, rather than the criticism itself.

Because i wasn't playing from the very begining and interested in raiding at that time ?
Im not supporting the OP on all his points but actually the raid content isn't that difficult if you know what to do.
I prefer some raids where you have to adapt yourself to what's happening, actually you know exactly what gonna happen which permit to some players to solo heal A8S which is supposed to be the most challenging content in the game.

You can voice your view but no one is going to accept an opinion like the OP's from someone they deem without credibility for speaking on content they haven't experienced. I won't accept the opinion that "firefighting is easy" or about what it takes to be a firefighter when someone has never even applied or gone through the process.

A lot of people in this game are adults, but don't necessarily act like "adults".

If they can't take someone's opinion without a temper tantrum then I would hate to be the people who have to put up with them in person.

The mentality could even be partially due to escapism and someone actually not agreeing with them ruins the illusion that somehow, they are completely right and that everyone agrees with them. There's many factors that could be placed here. But because of the playerbase's very delicate sensibilities, it won't matter how kindly you say something- they can go postal. This is why in MMOs I tend to stick to small niche groups ( and too many people are kind of exhausting to deal with anyway ).

I feel like the original point has been muddled quite a bit in this thread. I mean, on one hand you have the OP who was trying to play the victim but obviously has no idea what they're talking about since they haven't cleared the content they're trying to criticize, and then on the other, you have a ton of people saying that they should've listened to her on the LS and respected her opinion. The problem is that the OP is assuredly not giving the entire story, and I would gather that they're probably someone who has to get the last word in. More than likely, it's her fault for causing multiple arguments on the LS that forced her to get kicked.

I would also like to put out that FFXIV's community is a lot fresher than most MMOs. I mean, I've done over a thousand dungeons and I can only think of 5 or 6 instances where there was a toxic player. If the OP really was unjustly kicked from their LS, then maybe it was for the best and now she can find better people to play with, because trust me when I say there's an abundance of them.

This is a rare occurrence in MMO's in general. Most acknowledge when going with a random group that people come in different shapes and sizes with their own level of skill. Most groups I go with are usually just Hi and Bye at the start and finish, unless we wipe to things. Toxic people are in all games and you just have to deal with them when the time comes.

Hm, I guess there is a possibility that no game offers exactly what I (or others here) are looking for, and FFXIV is pretty darn close. Maybe we could provide feedback here on these forums on what we don't like, so that this game could be what we are exactly looking for.

I wonder what it is exactly everyone's even arguing about. The claim that content is easy? Though in truth it is, in my opinion. The "difficulty" is finding 7 other people that can put forth the same learning process and reaction time. Now i'm not saying i am perfect, but I wouldn't say the raids are difficult. Healing probably the only thing that has any semblance of difficulty especially in early progression.

Having a 30 minute to an hour long 'discourse with such a person would be grating on anyone's nerves and is no surprise that they were warned and kicked out.
