Its up to the tank to decide the pace of the dungeon, no different from a raid, if the tank dies because of too many mobs it's over, but if a dps dies because he attacked first then he wont get a raise
Even in Raids the MNK, SMN or BLM will pull if its needed to keep their Buffs up and its totaly fine as long as they don't run away or around with the mobs. As a tank you should be capable to get the aggro very fast back. And i'm not talking about these trashy 24 man "Raids".
