    Yep, justification is not optimization. All a group needs to justify a comp is to have players whom prefer to play those classes and successfully clear the content. Any justifiable raid comp should be 2xTanks + 2xHealers + 2xMeleeDpS + 2xRangedDpS with each sub-comp having 2 different jobs in it, but due to some synergies being better between certain classes not all justifiable comps are close to optimal and not all sub-comps have a near/semi-optimal comp.

    I have a similar concern. I don't mind them re-interpreting a class and I've generally tried to be forgiving of those within reason. As an example, I don't mind their variation on dark knight or white mage whereas for others I'm not so fond of them, I mean anyone whose seen me post knows that I absolutely despise what they did to smn by turning it in to an equivalent to WoW's warlock and Paladin doesn't really fit the holy knight archetype in my opinion either.

    I also generally try and keep in mind that my vision for a Job might not be the same as someone else, as much as I like their interpretation of drk I can understand why others don't. I say try and keep an open mind and hope for the best, at the same time say something if you don't like what they did with a class.

    I would like to see Dancer as a new Healer Job, but I'd want it to be much more unique when compared to the other healers. I imagine that a healing Dancer would rely heavily on buffs and debuffs; not in the way that AST's cards do, but something like this:

    Your primary heal is weaker than your typical Cure. You'll apply a buff to allies that grants them additional HP restored when you heal or buff them. You also apply a debuff on enemies that heals your allies every time they attack the affected target.

    Weaker heals and no shields justify Dancer's core healing rotation be instant cast as well as provide them with heavier damage mitigation throughout the fight.

    Dancers would rely on maintaining these core buffs and debuffs to keep the healing going, but they would have larger, more potent heals for emergencies. These would likely be off the global cool down or have a special resource like the SCH's aetherflow stacks.

    I would think heals would be weaker but would be a party wide HoT as long as they dance. Imagine would be limited by TP or MP.

    Keep in mind that a new caster DPS has yet to be released since SMN came out with the launch of 2.0. Also, the only melee was albeit a later release, but it came out under the old system of class/job combos in 2.0. By no means is this any sort of guarantee, but it is something to keep in mind.

    Yes, we have more DPS jobs, but we also NEED more DPS jobs. We are 2:1 for every tank and healer, and even more so when it comes 5:3 in 18-man content.

    I wouldn't be surprised if we get a melee and caster in 4.0.

    Basically, it's what SMN would be like if they just had trances instead of pets and the trances would have a bigger graphical impact than what Dreadwyrm Trance does now. but they won't do that because that would ruin glamours.

    Sure it's semantics but it's your own semantics. Are they terrible or are they justifiable just like BLM+SMN? If they are justifiable just like BLM+SMN why would the double caster comp be a bit more justifiable?

    What do those ratios mean?

    Jobs:Party Slots

    In Light Parties it's 3:1 for Tank/Heal 7:2 DPS
    In Full Parties it's 3:2 for Tank/Heal 7:4 DPS

    Balance would be
    4:1, 8:2
    4:2, 8:4

    Most likely they will add Sam as a dps. Even though the queue system will be destroyed for several months like when ninja was released. However I do think we are overdue for a popular dps job.

    Some ideas of mine...

    Samurai: Melee kit with emergency mechanics to temporarily (and potently) fill a tank role. Buffs the party with one of many Bushido codes depending on the situation. Quickly summons ancestral spirits to aid or defend for a limited time.

    Red Mage: Magic damage that lives in melee, opposite of Bard who is a physical damage that lives at range. Has emergency healing mechanics that can save a party.

    Blue Mage: Caster tank that gains stats/abilities/energy from taking beatings to the face. Constantly generates a magical defense bubble around him. Has a ninjutsu-like button that becomes one of many attacks, if and only if an enemy hits him with it first. You can store moves for later use (much like AST cards).

    Dancer: Healer with a combo system like monks. GCD speed changes with each "stance", forcing them to adapt their tempo and. I could see them being great at all forms of healing, but they have to keep up their Rhythm like its Greased Lightning.

    If I had to guess my guess is:

    Tank: Samurai - Great Katana
    I know some don't want this, hell they refuse to think of it as a possibility but IMHO for many reasons.... Tank.


    Healer: Dancer - Twin Fans

    Dancer has been pretty popular in some recent Square properties. They tend to be healer/debuffing Healers. A few recent games like Bravely Default saw them use Fans which would be a neat weapon I think.


    Melee DPS: Red Mage - Foil
    I see this guy getting a foil to meat tradition and the request for a sword wielding dps. I see him as gimmicky with WHM and BLM as being his CC skills. I feel his gimmick will be he will be a close range Melee with "enchanting" skills and stances that will augment his combat skill. I also see him being given a heal or two, adding a little support to him. His weapon damage would be based off INT to nod to his mage background, his heals based off MND, making him the only melee DPS that would have a use for Cleric stance.


    Ranged DPS: Blue Mage - Soul Orb
    To make BLU fit the ffxiv mold you would have to mix him a bit with a few other classes. Some Blue Mage, a bit of Beastmaster, and maybe a bit of FFTA's Morpher even would by themselves never see a Job in the trinity system of FFXIV, but together it could work. Weapon would be a Soul Orb, a rare item in the series but still there, allowing for "ranged magic". Some useful damage and debuff/buff spells from BLU, a debuff/control or two from Beastmaster, and for fun and utility maybe the ability to morph into one of two travel forms... three if they add swimming. It would be a DPS/Debuffing monster. Like a Bard is a DPS/buffing job. And turning into a mob and flying away would be epic. Admit it.... you wanna fly.

    They should just add another tier to job specializations:
    Level all healers to unlock super healy job
    Level all tanks to unlock super tank job
    Level all ranged for super ranged job
    Level all melee for super melee job

    Then do like City of Heroes and make random spawns that destroy you if you're on one of those jobs.
