    While I'm looking forward to pet glamour (because we didn't get any new pets in 3.0 as promised), I do agree that that becomes a major selling feature of a patch, and it's not really content per se. One of the major features of 3.1 was "these mounts can now fly," which made me laugh.

    This already happens very commonly... Crawler Silk/Chimera Manes comes to mind. And literally anything for leatherworker.

    To add my two cents to this.

    I love FFXIV very much, especially its capability to let me wear whatever clothing on my character that I want.

    I played Tree of Savior recently and, despite having a fun combat system, the sheer lack of customization of my character (armor didn't properly show up cosmetically on my character, only the stats actually seemed to work) was very debilitating to me. It's also why I can't stand other MMOs like Black Desert Online, which forces gender restrictions on classes and every class has a pre-determined character appearance that I don't appreciate.

    The fluff may seem silly to people who only care about gameplay, but to someone like me who cares about those aesthetics just as much if not moreso than gameplay (truth be told, if they took out the hardcore endgame 8-man raids, I wouldn't even bat an eyelash), I think there should be a balance.

    I'm pretty sure those items aren't special at all, I'm almost certain they're common hence the reason they drop from mobs. I think OP wants actual rare item drops from mobs, like how Diablo 3 killing an Elite can drop high end craft items.

    I think the cap part of the game is what it makes very boring as iLVL is used to gauage your strength level beyond level 60. The problem with ilvl being the gauge is the redundancy of the gear every few patch cycles, making your grind for that gear seem redundant as you just toss it aside when something new appears.

    Other RPGs without level caps or a steep leveling curve with overworld monsters as the primary source of exp make the overworld monsters more important as you grind them constantly for EXP. This game's problem is the abundance of EXP options and game options (retainers) to make killing overworld monsters mundane and pointless.

    One random suggestion on the spot thinking is maybe that overworld monsters have something akin to spiritbonding and allow you a level increase after X kills. This coupled with random rare drops such as 'special' furniture trophies, treasure maps or minion tokens (20 overworld rare pieces for 1 overworld monster minion as example) could easily make overworld monster kills more valuable.

    Several other games do this well and I play those games when I'm sick of this one.

    Funny how people refer to "fluff" content as inferior to "battle" content even though anything "fluff" is more lasting if not permanent while "battle" stuff gets replaced every/-other patch. E.g. minions, mounts, outfits are there to stay forever while that x-ilvl item will be replaced and only for your retainers to wear after the next patch. And can only be of value as "fluff" item to glamour over.

    Yeah in my country they would probably just lay off some people from department x and hire more people for department y but as far as I know that is not done in japan like that.
    I agree of course that someone doing graphics will not suddenly start helping out in other departments (not normally at least) and they won't have people sitting around, But i would imaging that SE can redistribute its employees towards different teams (but that is just me guessing).
