Not sure how that's possible unless players had access to other players armoury chests? How would anyone know what gear you had?
Anyway, that's besides the point, my point is that people still cared about aesthetics long before the glamour system was implemented.
Let's take us back to the time when glamour didn't exist. This is how it worked:
You would enter an instance with a minimal item level of say 90 for example, than examine their gear; and if they're wearing a level 1 bikini and panties, you know that they had the gear to enter the instance with, but swapped gear after entering. This is where it would be griefing. So yes it's possible and it did happen. This stopped being an issue when they implemented the glamour system.
I was referring to someone having a full set of IL 70 armour, and then getting an IL 80 headpiece, but still wearing the IL 70 one because it matched the set.
Wearing an IL 1 bikini for a dungeon is excessive and ridiculous, I've never seen anyone do that before.
That still happens today actually. Most often with SCHs believing to much into their crit gear. They'll be using gear to enter an instance with, one that requires a high item level. Than they'll swap back to a lower piece of gear because it has crit. Different situation, but ultimately same problem.
True, my point was just that glamours were still important to people a long time ago to the extent of doing this ^^That still happens today actually. Than they'll swap back to a lower piece of gear because it has crit. Different situation, but ultimately same problem.
