YoshiP No more Region Exclusive Items, Please.

That would require a level of maturity of understanding of business that the FFXIV forum community at large seems incapable of. Hell, half the people here are still convinced that all the revenue from this game is wasted on booze and hookers. Trying to explain such a simple concept as to why these region exclusive deals exist is a fool's errand because people don't want an explanation. They made up their minds long before they even entered this discussion.

I purchased the 25th Anniversary Collection set last year, the one with all the games from 1-13, a DVD and an art book, along with the Moogle Earrings. The code still seems to work, but is only valid on Japanese accounts. My account is NA, so what do I do now? Sit and wait until they bring them back for NA/EU... if ever. Well, at least I have a huge heavy pretty white box to look at.

That's what prompted me to post here. I'd contacted them and they said all codes expired 2014, even the JP ones, but I am not convinced since the MogStation STILL detects it as a working code, it just won't accept it because of region.

Is it asking too much that if there are region exclusive gear, that all regions get something? like if JP players get something no other region can get, then NA can get something that no other region can get. and the same goes for EU.

Most of the money from this game goes on to support other games within SE, least that's what the majority of my research leads me to see. SE even has a habit of pulling developers from succesful games onto other projects, hence why YoshiP is often apologizing for their inability to provide certain requested features as quickly as they would like. The answer always comes down to 'not enough resources' and in one interview YoshiP even outright said they were hiring, specifically for programming devs. In fact, when the optional item shop was introduced, one of the biggest things YoshiP stressed about it's existance was that a very large portion of it's funds would be going towards the creation of a european data center, which we did end up getting.

Now, I understand quite well why certain promotional deals like this exist. They exist for incentive. They exist as a way to get players in that region a reason to play. It's a, hey, look at this shiny new item here, only you get it. Isn't that so cool? Come play our game! But knowing why it exists doesn't stop me from disagreeing with the notion of it's existance and thinking it's an unfair buisness model.

China and Korea get items no one else can have. Japan, for a small while, had exclusive items no one else could have, until there was feedback from the userbase for them. Eventually, they were brought over. In the mean time, North America and Europe have yet to have a single exlusive item to their name. Understanding the point of exlusive items and why they exist, how do you think that makes players feel?

I get how the old saying goes, life isn't fair. And as the Philospher Jagger once "You can't always get what you want." But that doesn't mean I'm not privy to offer my feedback for why I'd like to have the same pretty shinies as everyone else. Especially when the Developers outright asked the community to provide feedback on such a topic.

The 'Summer DLC' items have made their way to the UK. I've added these to the 'some' regions list as this promotion currently exludes many areas in EU region.

Why does whenever we can't have something that is already in the game we have to pull out our wallets?

To be fair, China and Korea got those items because their government censors refused some outfits from the rest of the games. It was the Thanaverian ones I think but don't quote me. So to be "fair" it seems unfair to them if you ask me. Those outfits are neat, but it would be unfair if we got that too. IMHO.

Korea has censorship laws but allow uncensored elins in Tera? I don't see how that works. Unless it's due to the "Muslim Scare", which would explain why it's only the thanaverian outfits that were censored.
