YoshiP No more Region Exclusive Items, Please.

To date, various regional versions of Final Fantasy 14 have gotten exclusive items, while other regional versions, namely NA and EU (this includes AUS as well), have never had such a pleasure. Yes, I am aware NA and EU Fanfests are getting exclusive minions but those will be obtainable by other regions for purchasing the respective streams.

Now, amidst the outcry from the community, some of these items have been made accessible to other regions. We received the Panda and the Magpie in the Mogshop and Square Enix partnered with Amazon to bring NA the JPN exclusive items with a promise to the EU community that such a promotion would come their way soon as well.

However, despite requests from Yoshi-P to give him feedback regarding our desires to see exclusive items become mutually inclusive, there are still several that remain locked behind regions. There have even been threads before this one with over a hundred replies, like the one found here, but no official response on when, or if, we’ll be getting the rest of the items.

And, to make matters more frustrating as of 6/17/2016 they have announced even more exclusive items for Chinese version of the game, leaving other regions without a single exclusive item to have ever been given to them.

Does this affect my ability to play the game? Certainly not. They are, at the end of the day, just pixels but it does affect my enjoyment of the game to a certain extent. I may be North American but my heritage is certainly from more than just this region and I would find great enjoyment in being able to celebrate my mixed ancestry with some of these items, especially ones that touch on mythos near and dear to my heart.

So please YoshiP, Developers, Marketing, Square Enix, I ask for you to kindly reconsider this idea of exclusive items. Even if you don’t stop doing them in general, at least make them accessible to other regions in different ways, it truly would be appreciated.

Chinese Sun Wukong items (Mount, Outfit and emote)

So to be "fair" it seems unfair to them if you ask me. Those outfits are neat, but it would be unfair if we got that too. IMHO.

I won't quote you on it but if that is the case then it still doesn't excuse the region lock. Censorship has all the time and many times portions of games are cut out whether it's a eastern release being ported to western players or vice versa. But while they're getting something for free to possibly make up for their governments choice to censor media, players who live in regions where things are less censored seemingly get nothing. You could argue that yes, NA players might have a more full game and these things are nothing that impact actual gameplay, and I full heartedly agree. But by region locking items because reason X makes and not giving other regions some as well because reason Y, makes the matter worse. They can keep those items respectively to China and Korea, but at least give consideration to other areas and give them regional items as well.

I find it hard to agree with that mindset. Its lame their censorship stopped them from getting certain outfits, and cool that SE went and made some special ones for them, but I don't see why everyone else should have to "miss out" on something just because their laws got in the way and made them "miss out" on some of our stuff.

Whoa whoa hold it there, China I could maybe see the censoring of some outfits but, Korea? You mean the place that created and still runs games like Tera and Blade and Soul; where 90% of female armor consists of plate bikini's and nipple tassles?

So, we should petition our government to censor more of our stuff so we can get cool region specific items, like other countries!?

Seriously, thats the most backwards thinking ever if it's true. Why should everyone else be denied... We didn't ask for their government to be like that. And think of Australia. they get denied EVERYTHING, and yet they dont seem to get any region exclusive items...

I cant speak for the other items but I definitely would love to see the Monkey King items in the NA region. I remember saying I wish they would release these this year for the year of the monkey. Beyond that I would say out of a lot of things that is culturally of Asian origin the story of the Monkey King in its many forms has been embraced by western culture and its a shame that we can't get the items it would have been awesome.

Korea has censorship laws but allow uncensored elins in Tera? I don't see how that works. Unless it's due to the "Muslim Scare", which would explain why it's only the thanaverian outfits that were censored.

Well many Western governments aren't exactly perfect either, but hey if China and Korea are happy with the ones they have and how they perform, then "better" is quite subjective. Anyway it's going off topic...

Is this true? So many Korean games have ultra skimpy outfits to the point that people joke "less armour is more armour". I know China got a Blade and Soul release and that has very sexualised outfits as well. FFXIV outfits are so tame in comparison.
