It is a lot of fun, and it's vital to know how to do it if you are going into tough dungeons (such as the Palace of the Dead). Healers who can't dps efficiently there will certainly suffer.
My non-healing AST that's been through a full run says otherwise. PoTD is only difficult if your party is trash. If a healer is forced to pick up the slack of a DPS. He's trash, plain and simple. Though in same cases you may end up with 3 healers and one tank. Then of course it's everyone's duty to DPS. Though I've only had this happen to me once.
What on earth do you do there if you don't DPS, especially on lower floors? How are you being helpful to your party? My non-healing AST that's been through a full run says otherwise. I'm not sure what groups you've been with but. My runs are pretty quick. If I had time to get a full cast off before the mob is dropped, I would. But majority of the time that's not the case. Cast time is roughly 2 seconds. It takes about half that for most groups to down a single mob. But to answer your question I scout rooms. Throw up a group heal and HoT then toss on sprint and scout the next room for a chest/dead end. If it's a dead end, and no chest. I let the group know and we avoid wasting time on it. Honestly this should be standard but it's not.
I agree that the healer should be the one to scout rooms, but on lower floors healers are able to also solo mobs just as well (in some cases even better) than the DDs so there's no reason to not participate in that whenever possible. And on upper floors healer DPS helps even more, especially when you get your AoE spells.I'm not sure what groups you've been with but. My runs are pretty quick. First time posting here. As a new player reading through this thread, I have started trying to stance dance and it's actually quite fun. Even being under geared and not knowing any of the fights I still find time to at least put up my dots if not more. Also if the fight will go on for a bit I make sure to pop Divine Seal and get hots on everyone. Then I can pretty much go to town with DPS.
You. We like you. Thank you for being better than 80% of the healers out there.First time posting here. Or the parties you get aren't good at dodging stuff.I dont like the concept of Healer doing dps very much. At the moment I'm doing mostly Hullsbreaker Island hard mode (is that the right english name?) and it seems that every time I try to dps that nearly someone dies. Thats a bit scary tbh... Some of those Mobs there can hit quite hard. (Thats happened in other dungeons too)
Maybe I'm just not good enough at stance dancing but without cleric stance doing dps is not helpful either
The problem with this game is healing and damage mitigation are a joke. Enemies are all trash. Tanks can make huge pulls and still take almost no damage at all. There's just never any real having to do.
Been running the expert roulettes a few times without any healers recently with friends. PLD 3 dps and go. Don't need healers. Clemency is more than enough to cover what little damage you do take
