Name Change when Race Change

Because picking a female name for a male character makes a whole lotta sense. Hence "pick intelligent names."

There will very likely be ONE TIME race/name changes when new race options are added. Outside of that, people should but more thought into their characters, and I do not like name/race change options, as they can be abused.

You are essentially telling me that you want to be a Male Miqote, but your character name is "Patricia." Well, if you get to change your race when they come out, then you'd most likely be able to change your name too. My point is people should put thought into their names so as to not regret the name they chose later. Thus, I'm fine with making a one-time change available when a new race is added. But one time only, and only can change your name if you changed your race.

Name/race/appearance changes can be abused to mask your identity when you did something to piss someone off/get kicked out of an LS/whatever. E.g. incidents in FFXI of linkshell leaders "taking the bank and running." If they could change their name/race, they could easily escape the ire of the players that hated him for doing that. People who don't deserve second chances would get a second chance.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on this but you do realize this is kinda dumb, right? Who on release knew there'd be more races coming? There's no precedent for it. People have named their characters based on the information they had, that information DID NOT INCLUDE additional races. Now, you might say they could have anticipated it... but you'd have to ask how they would. Once again, there is no precedent.

It was stated clearly in the pdf files released on the 14th that they will be issuing race changes in conjunction with the release of the new engine.
