Power Leveling is pretty broken, but its not necessarily a bad thing.

Realistically, the majority of new players would not have someone who would PL them right off the bat. Most of them will probably have to experience then pains of leveling up a job to a higher level by themselves or having to form party's (which I will admit now, new players will have a huge disadvantage with the patch, leveling up solo is kinda difficult now... not nearly as quick as last patch where I got my first 50 (along with some other jobs to 20) in 150 hours...)

For a game that's very ability dependent, Power Leveling makes it so you can get that one ability you want painlessly from a job you never really want to touch again. I know I have pretty much zero intention of ever playing gladiator, archer, or mage jobs, but I would like the abilities that they have at higher levels.

Honestly they should have made it easier for newer players solo, and kept it how it was 25-30+ (so they can get more customers in the door), but I'm not complaining, I really enjoy the fact I don't have to spend hours on jobs I don't want to play is amazing.

What's the point of having multiple jobs if you can breeze through the task of getting abilities you want? I'm sorry, but that doesn't hold up at all. Might as well just have one class per character with additional abilities through merit points or somesuch.

I wouldn't mind having that as an option, but that's just my cup of tea. Other people actually like leveling multiple jobs and playing them all, it's all preference~ for me personally, I only played gladiator to get sentinel, and my mage job for cure spells, I disliked every minute of playing them :P Getting cure III or sacrifice III grinding would just be terrible solo grinding for me, I hate playing mage jobs. I'm not saying power leveling isn't broken, cause it is... but that doesn't mean I don't welcome it~
