Interestingly, Noko's description mentions Humans, has the term Humans actually been used in XIV before? It's usually just Hyurans

Nah, "human" is used, albeit sparingly, to describe all of the races as a group, of which Hyur are one.

"Man" is, of course, used much more often (i.e. "man and dragon"), but there was at least one place where "human" got used instead. Bugger if I can remember where, but it was fairly minor dialogue.
Coulda sworn it was Alka Zolka addressing Surito Carito, but the line seems to have since been changed...

I figured it was just another way to show that the Yo-Kai are obviously not native to Eorzea. After all,HinoNohi says he's from a "far-off land," as are the Yo-Kai, or somesuch when you first introduce yourself to him...

I can confirm that this is true! I almost got a screenshot while getting theBushinyanShogunyan weapons, but was fumbling with the HUD and missed my chance... especially disappointing since there weren't many people around owing to my usual play time.
Ah well... I'm sure I'll get another chance, given I've decided to go for the All Weapons achievement with my Guillotine done. Not much else to do.

There's a small, naked Lala in the foreground (welcome to Gilgamesh!), but I got a good one.

If I ask them nicely, will they plan an event for Inazuma Eleven: Scales of Ares next year? Eorzea needs soccer!

I hope we get a crossover event for the next Resident Evil game.
On a more serious note, though, I'm just throwing the increasingly silly seasonal events into the same 'bubble' as the Hildibrand stuff. I'm hoping that we never see this sort of thing leak into the MSQ's because I'd hate to see FFXIV go the same way as WoW. A game which once took itself fairly seriously, boasted in-depth lore and then threw a lot of it away for cheap 'humour' and even went so far as to have entire zones driven by pop culture movie references.

I don't see that happening (yet). It's pretty obvious the Yo-Kai Watch stuff isn't canon (and is a special limited time event like the Lightning event(s) was - you won't see it happening again). On a more serious note, though, I'm just throwing the increasingly silly seasonal events into the same 'bubble' as the Hildibrand stuff. Also pretty sure this game isn't going to go the way of WoW yet. WoW's problem was, after Vanilla, that it started relying on the RTS games' lore for villains... and after the Lich King, who was the last piece of fallout from the Third War that needed to be dealt with, they had to start going further into the RTS stories. They dug up Deathwing, who was around during the Second War, and had us fight him... then sent us off to fantasy China (they weren't emulating Kung-Fu Panda - the Pandaren were in Warcraft III, albeit as something of a joke) and gave us an unclear and ultimately weak villain who, upon defeat, used time travel to make players refight an alternate version of the First War. Now the most recent expansion is just going to be Burning Crusade all over again... with a different setting and a new class instead of new races.
... all with cheap (and sometimes bad) pop culture references, tired gameplay, a recycled story that will continue to butcher the RTS games' lore, dull characters, and no real dramatic tension.

I am not a fan on Hildibrand's humor, too and I'd hate it if it leaks into the MSQ. Already some of that humor was seen in the NIN's job quest and as well as the CUL one although it might be more a reference to that cooking anime where everyone experience immense "pleasure" when eating good food.
I guess we'll see in 3.4 if/when Yda and Papalymo returns and I can see the devs trying to lighten things up after the events of the whole Dragonsong War.
