Yeah, wait... how did we get here?
Yo-Kai Watch lightening the mood -> 3.x dark -> 3.x not dark enough -> villains not accomplishing anything -> nobody much dying -> villains who succeed at killing and the impact it has on the story. Interesting.
Aaaaaaaanyway... I think the main reason Garlemald has gotten the short end of the stick is because we've only ever fought a single Legion at a time. The VIIth was the main obstacle in 1.x, the XIVth (which had gone rogue) in 2.0, and 3.0 introduced the VIth. Those single legions took the recreation of the Grand Companies and the reforging of the Alliance to stand against, which says a lot. We've not seen anything to really garner the reputation Garlemald has, but they certainly deserve it. If Garlemald decided to go all-out against Eorzea, it's going to hell in a handbasket in a matter of weeks (if that). Yep, even with Ishgard on our side now.
Jes' cuz we don't see it don't mean it ain't there!

Square-Enix has a finger in most of those copyrights, so it's not totally off-topic, right?
Please don't underestimate me now.
Teasing aside, I only included AgK! because it uses character death to show how serious a threat villains are. That or mass destruction seem to be the benchmarks people use to determine how threatening a villain is.
I can't say for certain, but I think Juri eventually understands what Leomon meant. He just didn't have the time to say "Don't blame yourself for what happened; I chose this path" - the problem was it triggered memories of her mother's death where doctors said something similar (i.e. "This was destiny.") Of course the kid is like 10 years old and oh my God that is such a not kid-friendly show after the halfway point, so...
Side note: if you've not yet played Cyber Sleuth I would highly recommend it. It starts out like most any Digimon game, but at the end of the first act it gets freakin' dark. Like... Shin Megami Tensei lite almost. Oh and the gameplay is pretty good too. Translation is kinda shonky but I don't think that'll be a problem for ya.
I considered Grimgar, but never bothered when it was airing. I'll be busy with the Yo-Kai stuff and the Moonfire Faire (though why a solo player like me would bother with group poses I can't say...) until Deus Ex: Mankind Divided releases; doubly so if I decide to go back to school. I don't watch a lot of TV at all (even on the internet), but I do try to watch only good stuff and not waste time with more junk like Sword Art Online - entertaining as all hell but ultimately little substance behind it.
I guess it's not entirely off-topic, but it is kinda far from the original topic of Yo-Kai Watch.
