I wasn't aware this game had a "finish line" but ok.

Improvements to any MMO is very commonplace, especially in a game like this where 1.0 was what it was and 2.0 rolled out with continual progression. Albeit slow, but I feel it's somewhat getting there. The introduction of new modes and dungeons happens all the time. Just because it wasn't there before doesn't mean that your "I play how I want because I pay a monthly subscription" attitude exempts or grandfathers you from it.

Protip - I've never run a hall of novice, but I don't need to be reminded of what it means to be an adaptable, good teammate in party finders or parties when the occasion rises. It's an elitist attitude like yours that introduces HON and tries to set a good example of what it means to be a good player, no matter the role. It's also why I chose to WHM as a 2nd main class and show you elitist bastards up.

If you can't learn to adapt to changes, then maybe unsub? You make this game sound so more business like than it should. What's wrong with adding DPS to the flow of being a healer? It's there for a reason. Are you just uncomfortable and can't multitask or just a lazy healer?

But please. Feel free to carry that attitude and way of thinking forward. I'll happily continue setting a good example of what it means to heal and DPS as a WHM and take all my commendations and kudos. =)

For the OP, if you're left without anything to do in the fight, it doesn't hurt and can be rather fun to DPS. The important thing is to gauge your abilities and do what you are comfortable with. Keep an eye on your mana bar and if you're dipping low, then dial it back a bit. With practice you will find a rhythm that works for you.

But god forbid someone have a different style of playing that doesn't conform to your straight line system.
See, I view poisonous as stubbornly refusing to improve despite text in the game that clarifies the role, statistics that were specifically asked for with the promise of a retraction of a statement (that never occurred despite a nearly perfect example), and someone who specifically argues against other people telling them how to play by calling them "elitist" when the "elitists'" entire point and reason for even posting was to give suggestions on how to be the best at their class at the request of the OP.

Some people hijacked this thread about optimal ways to play, to defend their suboptimal playstyles and to insult others who were actively trying to help the OP by calling them "elitist".
Who's the elitist? The guys trying to explain why and how to play optimally at request of the OP? Or the guys trying to hijack the thread, calling other people elitist and defending a known suboptimal playstyle? *HINT: IT'S THE SECOND ONE*

Err, I use a controller and you have access to 32 through just the use of the L2 and R2 triggers. You have 8 for L2, you have 8 for R2, you have 8 for L2+>R2, and you have 8 for R2+>L2, (and if you really needed it you could set up an L1 toggle for an additional L2 and R2 for an extra 16).

Are there any classes that need more than 32 to perform optimally?

I also like to add, for your argument, you may as well say something like "Well if they wanted us to do quests for the advanced classes they should of implemented job crystals at 1.0 - why should I have to do the job quest class? I like healing as a BLM" if you're going to go that route of going against the grain of progression.

You should play the way you want. You pay the 15 bucks a month or whatever you pay you should enjoy it.

With that said I've always looked at healer as a class that not just heals damage but mitigates damage. If the Healer throws in some DPS with their heals they're probably going to do a better job of mitigating damage.

Death is the most powerful debuff in the game so anything the healer can do to inflict Death faster makes the party safer.

I'll just end it with this.

At the end of the day, regardless of it's optimality. Your and the in-game text's way of playing healer is optional. Key word. Optional. Nothing you can say or do will change that fact. The only people who need to "defend" their style play is you. So have fun with that.
