I've said it multiple times already. I'm not saying you, her, him, or who ever is wrong. I've actually said you're right on a few occasions.
I don't care what DPSing offers. I prefer a relaxed non-elitist style of play. Yet they still seem to think I'm trying to prove something. I don't have anything to prove, to you, her or anyone else. I was simply stating my style of play. So I'll say it again.

I don't care what DPSing does to improve or slow down a group. I prefer to play a relaxed non-forced style of play that allows me to enjoy the game as opposed to bull rushing through it like elitists. If you're bothered by people not DPSing as a healer. Simply form your own group and don't use the public system. If I was trying to force my style of play on to others then you'd have ground to stand on. As it stands, you currently do not.

I mean personally, I'd be bored out of my skull if I didn't DPS. Most of the healing in this game requires you to cast like 1 GCD or oGCD every 5 seconds or even more, especially if you're a scholar. 90% of the 8 man party content in this game can be solohealed without any real difficulty, which means the if the second healer didn't DPS he could probably eat dinner or take a short bathroom break during a pull and no one would notice.

Sometimes I queue into a dungeon and I tell myself I won't DPS because I'm too lazy. I can't go more than 5 minutes without itching to do something because I'm bored of pressing buttons once every decade. It just feels a little unfair to the DPS trying to milk every little GCD they have if I put in 10% of the effort they do and half afk when running content.

I can see where you're coming from with this. In other MMOs I've played it was a rolling issue that healers would often go AFK during fights, and yea. I do get bored sometimes. But's extremely rare and only happens when the tank is extremely good and the DPS is extremely bad. I'll put this way though. I play characters that are more in tune with the way I like to handle life. I'm a laid back person. So button mashing games irritate me. That's why I've always played healing classes. They allow me to enjoy the game without being overwhelmed by the fact that I'm expected to push out every inkle of damage possible.

It's not even tough to do, it's not like you have to scramble to click things.
    Especially outside of raids.
It can be a bit tough to set up the hot bars (5-10 mins), but if you do, it's nearly impossible to not DPS.
You just click the next thing.
Oh, tank is 50-75% health? Click Cleric, Click hotbar one, click Heal spell of choice until full. You have like 5-10 seconds to do it, and can do it pretty lazily.
No one's asking you to max out every single point of damage and heal at the absolute min amount of health to do all the DEEPS.

All we would like, is for you to learn to click cleric stance, a couple dots or Gravity/Holy at the beginning of an encounter (or end) and then you can stand around doing nothing.

The hall of novice wasn't put in place when I started playing. So I'm not going to 180 my way of playing because of a feature that should've been in place since 1.0

Why do you think they added the Hall of Novice? It's because players would get to level 60 and be terrible and not know how to do their job.
Just be not terrible. Just be better than a Faerie, or a bot or a chocobo. I'm not asking for you to do 1000 DPS a fight.
No is asking you to perform raid quality.

Also, why not start a new class (WHM for example) do the Hall of the Novice and just be not terrible with the new healer? Best of every world for everyone.

I've tried WHM, though it's not bad. I don't find it as enjoyable as AST. I like playing with the card buffs. That, and I don't feel like lulling my way from level 1 just yet. It took me months to get to level 50. I don't really feel like doing it all over again. I want to get through the story first. While I commend them for adding such a feature, it's a bit too late. It should've have been in place from day 1. The time it took to complete the first HoN for the reward given, just doesn't make me want to do it. I'm not learning anything I don't already know. Yes, I know how to stance dance. I simply choose not to because it's too much of a hassle. On occasion I do. Just not often.

As long as you know you're playing suboptimally, that's all I ask. Just know that you're costing other people time by playing worse than the Hall of the Novice asks you too.
Remember this is a multi-player game. You're 1/4-1/8 of the players you play with and your suboptimal decisions affect them. They also pay for their game.
Again, you won't be raiding if you continue to play like you do. Your "laid-back" style couldn't handle it anyway.

And yes it does take months to get to level 60. But once you get to 60 it takes maybe a week or two to get another class to 60.
What you shouldn't be doing is encouraging other players to play suboptimally or pretending like it's acceptable. Square Enix went out of their way to tell every up and coming healer to DPS. You shouldn't be trying to influence new players to play poorly because you choose to play a certain way that now even SE says is suboptimal.

I don't recall ever telling or suggesting that others should play like me. I would be the LAST person on this planet who would tell someone else how to play any game. People can play how ever they see fit.

I realize this is a multiplayer game. But at the end of the day, "it's my subscription". You wouldn't give a random person half your gil would you? I doubt it. Because it's yours. Their play will be negatively effected since you didn't. But you probably don't see that as selfish.

Extreme is a cake walk for me. Savage can't be that much more difficult. Don't confuse "laid-back" with "standing still". I don't and have never simply stood in one place an entire fight. Savage requires more movement and quicker responses. Both of which are not in the least bit difficult. Memorizing those movements are another issue entirely though lol.
