There comes a point in your meeting with him when he "eagerly" asks the main character to have a drink with him. The MC hesitates, but then agrees. Its rather interesting to see that hesitation from the MC, after giving stoic nods 90% of the time.

I was usually not too much into the Aymeric romance element. But after the vibe I got from that scene, I started to think there might be something there.

People interpret that scene and the reaction differently, it seems.

The journal states you were still reeling from the "loss" of Minfillia, and wondered whether a drink was worth it given the circumstances.

You thought it was your character considering a potential date, with a Ishgardian that would be a fine catch for anyone, highborn or lowborn.

I thought it was my character, for a moment, seriously regretting her fame as she's dragged again into a "drink" with a head of state, only to accept it to maintain the WoL image.

Aymeric de Borel had same kind sibling like relationship Haurchefant. Square Enix really good at this as american we really bad at make these relationship to romantic without realize that we push it beyond anything that was there

I won't spoil Lightning Returns but there is so many symbols and allusions and a lot of the extra material/novels supports them as being more than friends, being partners. Note you can be partners without doing anything "sexual." And Hope isn't 12 at the end of LR....

Anytime someone invites the WoL to a drink bad shit goes down.

Leaders get murdered(?).
Protestors get shot.
Envoys get stabbed.
Ambush ruins the party.

Of course the WoL would hesitate about accepting the offer of a drink. We have a very bad track record when it comes to that stuff.

Yeah... personally I find it very difficult to see any romantic relationship between the WOL and any other NPC. The WOL is "the Hero"/ "the Tool" and everyone feels indebted to you (especially Ayemeric), so you are always put in this pedestal... The only character I never really felt this distance was with Haurchefant. Maybe Alphinaud will eventually be like him as well (although i'm still somewhat bitter that he seems to care more about Estinient than the WOL, but i think he did say or hint somewhere he doesn't really worry about you because you are warrior of warriors and you have never failed before kind of thing.)

I could go on onto my personal perception of the very akward scene between Ayemeric and the WOL but that would be awfully long winded.
