Will we ever be able to add our alts on same account to each other's Friend List?

Actually $15 pretty standard sub rate as WoW is also $15 a month so you not really paying extra for any alts, I would actually view it as they giving a person a discount if they decide to only use one character not charging you more for extra characters. XI is where it actually charged you for extra characters.

Furthermore, that $15/month subscription is what SE calls the "Standard" and they "allow 8 characters per world." The "Entry" sub is $2 less and allows the one character. It seems the "standard" is that alts are the expectation, which makes it baffling why we can't mail our alts. That's from the Mog Station, by the way.

Anti-RMT excuse? Yeah, that really puts the pressure on those dirty RMT'ers, which is why we're assaulted by fresh tells after every wave of banning. If this really hurt RMT, we wouldn't see contradictory evidence every other week or more. We're denied a feature that would aid the "standard" MMO playstyle because it hinders RMT? I disbelieve, and my blacklist and the number of RMT support tickets support that disbelief.

It's not hurting RMT, it's hurting us. And as to the argument that it's going to cut down on retainer subs? Possibly. There are, however, a lot of us out there who do purchase extra retainers not just for the space, but also for the ventures. Some of us want those retainers running around to get us stuff. Some of us just hoard stuff, especially gear, and we're loathe to give it up. But we also want an easier time of it on our alts, which are usually there to be a diversion from our mains. Why do they need to be completely cut off from one another?

I concur. In the meanwhile, I'm hoping that next time the servers crash it's while I'm logged I'll be able to sign in simultaneously so I can add my two characters as friends.

Let's try to help out the devs and think of ways that'll allow us to add alts to friends list, like some kind of security checks or something
- Been playing X amount of hours for each character
- Reached certain point of main story
- Subbed for X amount of time

I also notice that RMT already use FCs for their shenanigans. When you think about it it's much easier than the cumbersome mailing of Gil (can only do 1 mil at a time). How come FC chests aren't blocked from regular players then?

With wow, you can get up to 60 characters I believe, 12 per server since DH is coming out next month and no server lockouts. XI you paid a base of 13 + 1 per character, all of which could attain maximum space if you gained the access, plus being able to mail.

People can defend why we didn't get a retainer this expansion all they want, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth when they announce the expansion followed by "Hey, you can buy 6 more retainers now!" instead of "Hey, you get a 3rd retainer upon reaching Ishgard, cause you know, we've added more gear and stuff so it makes sense."

I thought about this for a second. If my characters could've been added as friends I could've shared a house with my alt. But since I couldn't do that I bought a medium house on my alt. But I still haven't gotten around to furnishing it.

Would be nice if I could add my main as a tenant as he's the crafter and could furnish it. Instead of cumbersomely depositing and withdrawing from the FC chest.

Normally, I would say that. But since this idea cuts into retainer subs, you're better off trying to explain how it wont....since it obviously will. And since it will....then it wont happen.

Except that it doesn't. Friending your alts would have two effects: you'd be able to share a house, and you'd be able to send stuff to them through mogmail. Sharing a house would clearly help SE who has some difficulty in expanding housing enough for everyone. Sending items through mail doesn't change anything about retainers, since we can already pass stuff through the FC chest, or sell to ourselves through the MB.

People who claim it would affect retainers seem to think it would be used for mule alts, but all it does is take what's currently possible but awkward and make it still possible but awkward. There's NO CHANGE in that. People want mail access to pass items to the character who would use the item, not to shuffle them off to where they aren't as accessible.

Oh, plus there's the fact that this was an issue before paid retainers even existed. That's proof enough that the rule isn't about them.

SE has already told us that the reason we can only send mail to friends is to cut down on RMT. I certainly wouldn't want every spambot to be able to flood my mailbox with their garbage, so to that extent it's a good thing. But the rule simply doesn't make sense for the specific case of alts on our own account. Nobody's going to be spamming themselves or buying gil from themselves. It's perfectly reasonable to make it an exception to the rule since it's already an exception to the reason for the rule to exist.
