So let me get this straight:
You want the best gear, but right now you wont put in the effort to get the best gear because the catchup gear to prepare for the next massive ilvl boost progression raiding patch (patch 3.4, the next major content patch in a few months) is not terrible enough to warrant you going and getting the best gear.
Despite you saying that you find challenge fun. So you are purposely denying yourself enjoyment because the carrot hanging from the stick is not golden enough to make you want to reach for it. Despite the other non-combat rewards that are also in those savage raids and only come from those savage raids that you would never otherwise get.
I'm not at the endgame yet because frankly, I'm so in love with HW story that I've been doing other things so I can not meet it's end (even though I've been playing for 4 months!). LOL Anyway, I don't really see why the OP cannot criticize it without people's reaction being so rude.
Brannigan specially seems to have really good points. I am a casual person (a bit too much actually), and I don't really see why the casual crowd deserves to have such a good gear either, although if I had the time and patience, I would do savage for the fun itself and not for gear, I understand why some people want to have something to feel like a special snowflake, some kind of reward, because in the end of the day this is a mmo and we're talking about progression, not a dress up game.
I don't even really worry about gear anymore i get it when ever i hit the magic number of tomes needed its handed out like candy. Though 220 can easily get you threw most content wise besides savage and its drops are marginal to me not even worth putting yourself threw that.

I personally do not care about gear that much. However, there needs to be more rewards for raiders. Putting in more work in raids to get the same gear as someone who randomly mashes buttons while watching Netflix in faceroll content is not a good incentive.
People are selfish and want to be rewarded with shiny things and experiences. Rewarding players for doing nothing just leads to players just afk-ing in Idyllshire or Mor Dhona.
Fried popoto enthusiast.
Yeah, personally i think catch up patches should coincide with further progression - rather than have several months of catch up.
Catch up to ilvl 240 shouldn't happen while 240 is the current raid gear, for example.
I am currently on A8s and I finished all previous raids before serious nerfs and I couldn't agree more with you.
Only turn that felt somehow rewarding was A4S because of the mount. There is too much content in this game that has no rewards and considering how poor itemization works in this game it makes sense, they have nothing to offer to us.
It is quite common to offer the best stuff to raiders, different gear etc. but only in this game everything has to be handed out for free. People could easily do dungeons, trials etc. with iLvL 230 so I really don't see the point in handing out the upgrades.
Couldn't agree more, thanks.I personally do not care about gear that much. However, there needs to be more rewards for raiders. Putting in more work in raids to get the same gear as someone who randomly mashes buttons while watching Netflix in faceroll content is not a good incentive.

Raiders atleast deserve to be special snowflakes. It is completely normal to expect some reward for raiding 3-4 times a week for x months. When you compare the rewards and time commitments raiding would be one of the least rewarding parts of the game.
There are just too many people who will rather wait a year and then finish the raid unsynced because the rewards are not worth the hassle.
But this has been discussed many times and nothing will change. People want to have everything immediately and non of them will ever support the idea of more rewards for raiders so I don't expect any changes.)

To me, it's the players that demand the same item level equipment as raiders just so they can steamroll their already retardedly easy dungeons with it are the ones who desire to be special snowflakes.
I'll share my experience here.
I have static, and we have a8s on farm (9 kills, one to go for achievement). I enjoy when my static gathers for weekly kill, because it's fun to be in a good group.
So, ok, we gather on tuesday, spend 1-2 hours, and then we don't raid until reset.
1. What to do for the rest of the week?
I don't enjoy doing raids with random people, because it's usually not that organized and comfortable to do. I absolutely can't do roulettes anymore, for the point, that I start missing weekly tome caps.
2. We have next to no use of our current gear in next raid.
We are currently full 240, but we all understand, that when 3.4 will arrive, we will need to throw away most of that gear and replace it with crafted i250 one, else we will have problems with passing faust (for some reason I think we will have some sort of faust again in a9s).
3. When you start doing savage, you don't instantly becoming i240.
First, you need to learn the fight. Second, you need to get needed drop. Third, you need to win that drop. Ok, in a static you have control about who gets drop first, but it doesn't mean that it is you who gets it first. So, in worst case, you needed 8 a6s clears for your 230 weapon (and you still need 1k lore tomes also), 8 a7s clears for upgrade (if you are last in a queue for that loot), and 8 a8s clears for 245 weapon (to get it using books)
And I know several statics, who are still doing a6s-a8s, and they probably feeling stupid when they finally got that gear upgrade, when they are already in full upgraded gear from 24 man raid.

What bugs me a lot about Gordias and Midas Savage is there is no title for clearing it or any floors, no special anything just gear that's optimized better because for me as a tank I won't be taking the lore pants as it's acc parry i've done up to A7S but only cleared it once since I don't have a dedicated static my FC and I just run A5S-A6S then we're done like 2-3 of us move on to do A7S.
2.0 raiding wasn't better then this actually, 3.0 hasn't even evolved from 2.0 it's the same thing minus rewards for hardcore raiders. I used to love doing Coil and even got Savage Coil titles back in 2.x but for 3.0 there's just...well reskinned dyeable gear so yay? Hell even getting the story from Coil and the badass gear from there was bragging rights I always wanted that tanking coat and when I did get it from T9 you felt badass as all hell!
They do need to re-tune how raids are in this game the 24 mans are faceroll easy, the only savage thing about current savage is scheduling, and normal mode you can do in your sleep, there should be a story mode (what normal is now) hard mode (mid tier) and savage (hardest). The only issue with that is we'd have to do the same fights only with minor tweaks/gear checks so the only other option would be bring another raid out at the same time so it doesn't feel stale. The raiding in this game just isn't worth it for the ones who do put forth the effort there needs to be more content or alternatives, I do deeply respect all the people who cleared A3S-M8S they deserve that gear.
A lot of people on my server are feeling that way thank you for your input this is a perfect example of the state raiding is in now.
