Well honeslty, i don't care about the event being out of lore, the items are nice (most of them) the minions are cute and if SE gets money for it and use it FOR FF14 ONLY, great.
If it troubles you that much, you can always see it as some kind of carnaval for eorzean children, minions being plushies and weapons being false one for them to play the hero. Nothing prevents you from creating your own lore at some point
