I do that for games I want to continue supporting financially (perhaps because I agree with some of their design decisions) but may not currently have the time or even the inclination to play. I maintained a sub for Rift until very recently, even when I wasn't playing it. I'll drop money occasionally in GW2's cash shop, even though my playtime is sporadic at best there. There are a lot of MMOs I choose to invest in and play on and off-and-on basis, but this is the only one where I actually risk losing something I put a large amount of time and effort into obtaining. That is a HORRIBLE design decision in an attempt to make up for an even worse one, when what they really need to do is fix the problem that led them to think this was a solution in the first place.

There's no reason we as players need to accept things as they are. If a push for change is unified and strong enough, it can happen.

When talking about changes to housing that would pretty much require an overhaul of the system and how would you suggest they do that without screwing over current housing owners. Anyways massive change like that took place in 1.0 but I doubt we will ever see uproar and discontent like that ever again. Things are just not that bad in current way game runs.

Things ARE that bad in housing, however.

If they implemented a system that automatically spins up new instances whenever one fills - like LotRO, for example - then you could have the best of both worlds in that supply would no longer be an issue, but people who like the "neighborhood" concept would still have their system. Otherwise, a simple instanced housing system where everyone has their own housing instance would also solve the problem. Both of these are systems successfully carried out in other MMOs. There's no reason for us to have a system that hurts players like FFXIV's does.

You have to give up something to gain something.

You want automatically generated wards? Every house has a fixed exterior look and 3 slots for customization. That's it. That's how you free up data to have 10000 wards of housing.

Hahahaha... It does not. Housing systems with "tremendous" amounts of cusomization would be WildStar or Rift.

Thus the flaw in the base design, and thus it needs to be changed.
