Auto demolition of estate or private room

Think it's not right that your estate or private room goes into auto-demolition at 45 days sometimes ppl have to leave the game for awhile because of real life which happened to be my case. I had to stop playing for awhile which ended up being 7 months because of things far more important and to come back and see I lost everything from my estate and I can't even reclaim it. So my problem is that if you take a break for more then a month you get penalized for it and lose lots of items gather over time and untold amounts of gil. I find that unfair and not cool one bit. There needs to be a better way. If the housing area is to small and in that much demand then make the housing areas larger or add new areas for housing instead or stripping people of theirs and their things inside and telling them oh well you weren't playing so we are taking your stuff you worked for.

Your private room in a FC house isn't demolished.
House's are to make room for people that are actively playing.

I completely understand that RL comes first, but you were gone for more than half a year. At that point it's likely you'd never come back. Exactly how long do you expect the game to hold your spot? Just let your house sit empty forever? I do believe they send an email warning you that demolition is about to happen as well.

Well look at it this way. Now you get to go through the excitement of checking the wards daily and the excitement that gets felt when a lot finally opens up! Honestly though if I was away that long I wouldn't feel bad one bit. Well, I take that back. If my lot got bought up by someone who just plopped a house on it and left it completely void of any other decoration and locked, I would feel bad.

I think the fact that you lose everything if you don't log in shortly after demolition is unnecessarily punitive. There is no reason the housing npc cannot hold onto your furniture and or your gil indefinitely.

Unfortunately a very vocal portion of the FF playerbase seems to call for others to be punished every time they do something they dislike, while most others rarely consider things until they are directly affected. I suspect a combination of these factors is why we've seen such a harsh system implemented with little protest. Sadly, a lot of us don't care what happens to other people unless it affects us too.

Your private room in the FC house is only safe as long as the rest of the FC is active and using the house. The same goes for a room in a house you share, it's safe only as long as the owner stays active.
Tenants are in a horrible position due to reclamation with very little security. I hope the apartments they are introducing aren't subject to the same rules.

I do understand housing is in short supply but punishing players who take a break by removing their gil and belongings from the game as well as reclaiming their house is hardly fair. The shortage is not the player's fault.

@ Olivia I've seen so many houses like this; reclamation doesn't stop some people sitting on properties they barely use.

It's only unfair when you keep your subs active and lose your house. Come September I'm working away from home for 8 weeks with no way of logging on, I'll lose my house but I'll get over it, in like 2 seconds, why ? because it's not a real house.

It's probably because housing was supposed to be a gil sink (something we really do need as there is so much money coming into the game and very few places that actually remove it), but since they added the 80% compensation on having a house demolished, it's considerably less of a gil sink. The 35 day window to get your money (and items) is, I believe, a way to still try and get rid of the other 80% of the money from the economy.

You can run the Windows version on a USB stick (I do/have if I log in at my parents house for example), so you literally need to just plug it into any Windows PC with an Internet connection once every 44 days and walk inside the house. If you play on a console I appreciate that's a bit bulkier to have to carry around, but still doable (or just buy the base game on PC as it's so cheap all the time and link it to your account/USB as mentioned above, you don't even need HW expansion for housing).

WorldofNeil - I do take your point about the gil-sink. However, not every player returns with their bags bursting with gil and I still think furniture should stay on the Housing NPC indefinitely, in the same way your gear stays in your Armoury or the Armoire.

Yeah this, 'I'm all right, Jack!' attitude is what I was talking about earlier.
You don't care so this doesn't really affect you, I get that. I haven't been affected by it either, (I'm in an active FC and I have no intention of taking a break). But you also said you think the present system is unfair. It's causing a lot of people to lose stuff they do care about, sometimes through no fault of their own (see my previous post re. tenants). Shouldn't we as a community be supporting people who are affected and suggesting ways to make things fairer, regardless of whether we will benefit ourselves?

It is unfair but my point was that's just the way it is. Maybe 45 days should be 90 days, but Se have picked 45 days for a reason, we may never know the reason why they decided on 45 days but at the moment that's what it is, if in the future they decide to change it all well and good, and to be fair, you can easily earn a million gil a day and with houses so cheap (bought a Med house for 8m) it wont be long before I have another one.

Well if you took a break for 7 months then you left or went on break after the reclaim was added to the game.
