Same thing applies to high level content.
I won't let you judge my mentorship because im pissed of stupid people that don't try to play the game properly and you can't argue with.
It's not a point of view, it's reality. If you're so jaded by "stupid people that don't try to play the game properly and you can't argue with", then stop trying. Turn off your mentor crown and play normally. Putting on the crown gives you the responsibility to give every single player you are partied with, willing or unwilling to learn, the opportunity. Wearing the crown in FFXIV is like a cop wearing a badge in real life. If you're wearing that crown, you represent an organization of people devoted to helping people, not just people who are asking for help, but all people.

It's actually not a bad example, perhaps not perfect, but in school you will have kids who are unwilling to learn and will give you attitude. Dealing with that situation appropriately is a big part of whether or not you are a good or bad teacher, and as Harkuro said, some just give up. The appropriate response to a very ignorant player is to vote kick/vote abandon, not to leave.

That's a cynical point of view. There are also people who come from playing single-player casual games like the core Final Fantasy games who don't even consider that other people might know what they're talking about. And if you don't try to help them see that they need to listen and learn (part of the job of a mentor), then you really shouldn't wear the crown.

If a Mentor witnesses someone abusing a newbie, or whatever, the Mentor should have the ability to vote kick the bully - particularly since the newbie might not even be familiar with the vote-kick mechanisms.
It's not obeying, just listening, i would just like to see people TRYING to learn cause the majority i see don't even care or respond when u're on a mentor's roulette.
Mentorship is something long and rude we're agree on that i guess but it's a not reason to be too permissive, i mean, im mentoring people to help'em not getting harassed and yelled at because am trying tech'em.

Playing an MMO and don't care about other people/players ? Great go back to your single players games then.

That's part of the territory, though. Some players listen to learn, and I can tell you appreciate that when it happens, but other players need to learn to listen. If you try to teach them how to play, that plants a seed. It may not bloom right away, but if enough people tell that person that they need to change their playstyle through the myriad of content that they go through, that can ultimately change their view.

Right, expel the child because he didn't come to school knowing full-well how to read and write from the get-go. Good philosophy.

Teaching'em how to play or maximise their jobs (dps/tanking/healing etc ...) is part of mentor too imo, if i see a heal laying around because the tank take no damages or regen i will just say "Hey man try to dps to help the group" even if he doesn't have cleric stance.
That's part of the tips i give to newcomers, but yet, so many people are to shy to understand it and change their playstyle. Most of the time i'm just facing a wall with excuses like "let me play the way i want to" "i'm a healer not a dps" and then you can't argue with'em. That's the sad part of it.

Others will just say "Ok how do i do that ? Got any tips for me ?" And thats the part i like, cause remind me of myself as a newcomer i had the chance to join a super cool FC and though it was my turn to teach people how you do things.

To comeback for the OP message, penalties shouldn't be improved cause some people are just a pain to deal with.

I think a big part of problem is trying to teach people that don't ask for help.
