Late to the Relic party, could use some advice to catch up.

The 200-210 step isn't a problem for me because I have maxed out HW tribes and maxed out DoH/DoH and can gather Eso's efficiently. It's really the damn DF queues on the ARR raids that are annoying.

I can only think of two tips for that:

1. Try to get them all done as quickly as possible relative to Reset Day. That's when the most people will be trying to do them because, well, the quest became available again!
2. Do not queue as a Tank if you can avoid it. 24 mans are notorious for being one of the few pieces of content in which Tanks have the longest queues rather than the shortest.

Main tank here w/ a secondary DPS class. While I usually run 24-mans as DPS, you can always test the waters by queuing as a tank to see the average wait time, then cancel out, requeue as DPS, and see which class has the shorter wait time and go with it.

Or, if you're really having issues queuing, put an ad up on PF to get a premade going.

You could try the old raids on Sundays. Reddit hosts a weekly Crystal Tower Sunday event to encourage activity in that content.

Forgive my ignorance if this was made perfectly clear somewhere but I've looked just about everywhere for the answer. Does one need to collect 20 of each 'Unidentified item' as part of that step or just 20 of a couple of different randomly selected ones by the quest giver?

Best chance is to do it tuesday, sunday, or possibly monday. I usually can get 20-40 min queues on a tank job.

Don't forget that each Crystal Tower duty gives 100 poetics too (as well as a bonus usually), so it's really worth doing them even if you have to wait 30 mins which is about average as it helps out with the i210, i230 and i240 step.
I usually do them Saturday morning and haven't had an issue.
They also drop items you can use for Crystal Sand.

Also it's important to remember that you can use poetics for Crystal Sand as well. About 500 poetics/sand.
I'm doing moonstone/poetics/amber for mine. It's not fast but it's steady. I started Saturday and have used 6 so far.

Planning to just DoH and DoL as an high level omni since it'll at least relieve the need to dungeon grinding when doing 240. It is really just the aether oil bottleneck. Hopefully queues will be better this weekend.
