No offense to you sir but I also don't want to play a game that provides literally no challenge.

Can everyone agree that fighting a mob above your level is a BAD idea? Stop going to Horizon at level 18, you will die.
SE needs to tweak stuff obviously but there are two major things (three really) that are missing to make this game work: Class/Job system overhaul and Party recruitment overhaul. The third is a working market system where materia and materia infused gear is available, affordable, and easily searchable.
Precisely. Everyone is still in that mindset that they should be able to kill monsters that are 5-10 levels higher then them. Can everyone agree that fighting a mob above your level is a BAD idea? Stop going to Horizon at level 18, you will die.

This is your opinion. the game is to hard for you. I do not agree but thats you.
I love the update and killing mobs is secs before i can even attack in a party was silly. i like the changes.
All you have to do is get use to it.
They may be trying to bring back the leveling curve like XI had, 1-10 in xi was not fun, not fun at all.... and it was solo usually, and it was hard. I remember being level 1 only having dia, and having to kill mobs I'm not saying I agree with it, but it was always harder to level at first in XI, and I would like to see what their concept for the learning curve on leveling is for XIV, before jumping to conclusions.
There's a definite strategy besides zerg in this game now too. Like with the r25 ifrit fight, he does a move that kos even 50s, no one thinks to hit the towers which pop up during the fight, but if you do, you will survive that attack which kos, or else no 25s could do it, cause no 25s have that zerg power and you have 30 mins to do the fight, 30mins is a long time for a zerg fight.
Not saying the OP didn't use strategy, I'm just saying we have to approach certain aspects of the game in different ways now, and then again some might just be broken even if we try to like them.

This is a brilliant idea! I'm sure it has been suggested in some form in the past but with them releasing the tutorial now it may be a good time to let this idea be heard. Random moogle tips for various things that may be new to a player? You can't go wrong with that. Anything to keep new players informed is a good thing and will keep them around longer. To expand on the idea, the spirit moogle could not only give tips based on death, but also based on you acheiving a certain level or gap between your gear level and rank.
"Kupo! Looks like it may be time for a new sword! Why not head on over to the XYZ vendor in Gridania and buy one. I have marked it on your map here! (Map opens up)."
Could be diffficult to implement from programming perspective I dunno
While I have multiple 50's I feel your pain here completely. I logged in to do do some leves post patch. Rank 37 Marauder doing a R40 level. I got absolutely stomped into the ground by the linking leve mobs now. This was on solo 1 star. I have been playing this game since beta, I know how to play and I was completely unprepared for this change. MOST of the time I group so its a non issue, but there are occasions where I have limited playtime and want to do a few leves and log.Hi all,
I bought this game and played it for the first time 2 weeks ago. I've been on every day since (loving it!), and just experienced the patch. As you can see, I'm a level 20ish archer and marauder. I've played a few hours since the patch hit, and I'm completely disappointed. I wasn't even attacking mobs much higher than me before the patch, but occasionally I'd hit something 1 or 2 levels above and I'd make it through alive. Now, I get my ass kicked by mobs 2 levels below me and anything higher it's hopeless. All my hand picked gear (mostly by helpful players) isn't helping at all and the game just generally seems way HARDER. Harder than it should be..it just kills the pacing. Sorry, but I play video games for fun, not to be bored and frustrated. I was pretty happy right before the patch with the level speed, combat flow and yeah, I died now and then when I did something stupid, but now the game seems excessively hard. So all you high-level people with lots of experience, I'm glad you are having fun, but I'm going to go play Aion now. I suspect a lot of other new people like me feel the same way. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with this patch at all...it just simply made the game no-fun for me as a new player around my level. I've been severely nerfed playing other MMOs too, and it just kills the fun for me when that happens. It's like someone took away half of everything you've been building up and working hard at. Normally, that is called a punishment.
And yes, I've done nothing but group with other new players since the patch. We get our asses kicked constantly, even when 3 of us gang up on a mob 2 levels above us. Both of my friends logged out with a long goodbye and quit, both claiming they might be back after 1.20, but probably not with GW2 and SWTOR coming out. So there I was alone, at level 20 with crappy gear and nobody to play with surrounded by monsters that I can't kill. Yuck. I guess there is a form of permadeath now in this game after all, in the form of this pretty digital purgatory I found myself standing in.
If the game will hand you a leve, give you an option of solo difficulty it should be solo difficulty. I had to run back from 3-4 deaths, barely completing the leve. I just don't think they properly balanced things fully yet. Thats the one problem I have brought up time and time again, they release overhauls in many updates. Where most MMOs would put all the battle changes into one neat patch, SE keeps releasing parts overtime. When you release updates this way it is not fully balanced.
Another thing, nearly any MMO worth its salt has a test server today. This game needs a test server so they can get feedback from players ahead of time. Even XI has a test server now I hear, this game needs one and it needs it yesterday.
I have no doubt that these issues will be addressed, but who knows how long it will take. I love this game even with all my complaints which is why I am still here. I suggest sticking it out a few weeks to see what happens.
You had issues because you were fighting things above your level. As has been stated many times on these forums, that doesn't work so well any more. Go do a leve at the 30 camp with 3*, the mobs will be 36, and you'll be fine. While I have multiple 50's I feel your pain here completely. I logged in to do do some leves post patch. One star leves aren't "solo" anymore. It is just a leve mob level indicator. 1* is base for the camp (1,10,20,etc.), then +3 for each additional star, +3, +6, +9, and finally +12 for 5*****.
If fighting things your level is too hard, go fight weaker things and just keep killing, it is almost as efficient as chaining your own level plus no downtime if you manage correctly. PUG is one of the easiest jobs to level from 1, if you fight lower level things, the mobs will miss a lot so you can spam haymaker, even concussive makes them miss more.
When I first got into a PT yesterday, we were all level 26~28. Leader said we should go to Antlions in Copperbell which were level 38. We got STOMPED hard and quite a few guys were 'WTF?' I knew beforehand that doing leves on mobs more than 2 of my level was suicide after the patch.
We went to Nanawa and chained the Puks and Wisps there. Things went so much faster and we weren't in any threat of dying.
Learn to play the new game guys, it's not the game being broken, it's the rules being changed. Take that into account, stick to the new rules and the game will be fun again.
