No.
Feels like there are a lot of contradictions. The above-average ping variance can seriously hurt (see GCD spent, animation going off, but no effect or damage when chasing enemies as melee). A lot of the combat environments and the gameplay they bring out just don't see fun to me. Per XIV usual too much in PvP, as with PvE, seems to boil down to flatter means of damage or damage control down rather than visibly unique job gameplay. The technical nature of it is certainly there, at least comparatively, and yet it somehow manages to look watered down or face-roll in places where less technical MMO's PvP would look more diverse and generally more lively.
Not at all.
- Not enough rewards.
- No unique weapons with glowing effects.
- PvP gears look bad.
- Jobs are imbalanced.
- Field of Glory is more like a PvE content. It's not that you should kill the other clans but the clan that destroy most ices will win, that's not PvP.
- Too many derpies running around and don't know what to do.
- Feast sucks.
I could sit and do PvP for hours, Feast and Frontlines. The queue times are horrendous unfortunately.
- Need further job rebalancing.
WARs damage output is too high, they can easily take 2 melee who kill themselves with reflects from Push back and Vengeance. By the way mages take no damage from these skills because they are against physical only.
Cover and Perfect Dodge are useless against magic damage.
MCH can still lower HP from 70% to 0% in a second, their burst is a bit too high even after nerfs.
BLMs and most of SMNs are defenseless against melee who have Fetter Ward ready, Sleep doesnt work, Bind doesnt work, they can do nothing.
Caster LB covers too much area, it hits a crystal and all melee around it, while melee can hit only 1 target.
AST in Noctural Sect are too hard to kill because of instant shields spam while sprinting etc.
- The Feast rating system killed the mode, all top players have stopped quing because it's not in their interests to que when after 1000 rating they lose more points for a lose than gain for a win.
My gripe atm. Much as I love old Wolves' Den and the Feast, this game isn't an e-sport. Really has no need for ratings. More people played when the rating didn't matter (preseason and right when they removed WD matching restrictions).
It's not really that but really the fact that teams always seem imbalanced no matter what. When you as a plat player get paired against a team of gold while you have silvers on your team, it isn't really reassuring to you that you should keep playing with the risks. In any normal game you would expect plats to be paired with other platinums, diamonds with diamonds etc but with FF14 that isn't really possible due to how pvp is neglected compared to everything else in this game. In any normal game it is less likely for a good player to tank 500+ points( it has happened to some top 10 players) and more likely that every player eventually hits a static area where they belong. I would be more inclined to play if I consistently got placed with a team of plats against other plats but more likely than not I may very well get the bronze dark knight and have a guaranteed loss.
I was under the impression this was not possible. Do you happen to have a screenshot of this matchmaking (a bronze in the same lobby as a platinum) for clarification and confirmation purposes?
It was a slight exaggeration, but it is entirely possible for plats to have many silvers on their team against teams of golds.
