Well, yes, it's not as bad as it used to be, but it's still pretty bad, made even worse by the fact that the final weapon is extremely obsolete.

In the end, it's just a matter of personal preference and what you value more, I suppose. The money I would've wound up sinking into my relic if I'd continued with it (I gave up at the books part), I used to buy myself a cottage, and later on, a mansion. The time and effort I would've put into grinding out the relic, I instead threw into leveling up my crafter and gathering classes to get myself equally attractive options for glamour, and to furnish my home. In the end, I still don't regret passing over the relic questline, and I definitely don't plan on ever touching the HW relic questline, after the horror stories I've heard.

For my own minor story. I finally bumped into the ever complained about "I'm a healer not a DPS" WHM. Now I had just finished Heavensward before the reset, ran ARF a bunch and was trying to rush cap Lore tomes as much as possible. Needless to say, I was not happy Hullbreaker Hard turned into a long crawl. Said WHM literally was jumping around the map or standing completely still during pulls until we took the slightest bit of damage, then he'd top us, each and every time despite the WAR running Bloodbath and basically not needing any help on trash. I'll admit, this was a little petty on my part, but it's nearly 4am and this delay basically cost me being able to get my ilvl 230 body piece this week (missed it by almost exactly 40 ;-; ). So I'm annoyed. And I stop dodging everything I won't die to because his jumping around really started to irk me. Normally, I wouldn't care but... I was so close.

For my own minor story. I finally bumped into the ever complained about "I'm a healer not a DPS" WHM.

This is one of the reasons why I made WHM my main and, unless I am running with my FC, I only use WHM in DF.
This way I don't have to deal with this kind of healer!

Feel your pain (especially since I was the tank for that run) But no joke that SMN almost made me literally head bang my desk with how bad he was. Another kicker besides him being Mentor was he had everything 60.....just ugh.

To be fair, Chimera and Hydra are needed to unlock trial roulette anyway.

Not anymore. You just need two or three applicable trials to unlock it.

I've been running Wiping Shitty a lot recently, and I have a horrible suspicion that I've run into this exact SMN. Which means I could run into them again. This SMN joined at Ozma, proceeds to get hit by every single form-change AoE Ozma throws out, including the pyramid blast (TWICE!) and got me killed because RNGesus decided to place a meteor on them and they just stood in the middle of our alliance instead of going to the back or left.

And then when it came time for 2 meteors, RNGesus decided to give them a meteor again, and gave the other meteor to my co-healer. This SMN then decides to run left, after my co-healer, despite being told multiple times: "Back and left".

At that point, I was cold, tired, extremely hungry and I'd been running Midas and Wiping Shitty all day, only to continuously lose on every roll I made. I don't know how I managed to avoid losing my temper at this SMN who refused to listen and carry out the most basic of instructions, but even now, after a lot of sleep and some food, my opinion of them has not changed one bit.

I have no idea what they wanted. Maybe they just enjoy being a troll. Maybe they got their loot in the first chest and decided to just be a jerk the rest of the run (if that's the case, why not just leave...). I seriously hope they lose their mentor status. I doubt they will, sadly, but they don't deserve it after the way they acted. I love Weeping City. I enjoy running it. So when someone ruins one of my fav 24-mans, I get super pissed. I did get a GM response to my report. They didn't say much, but that there were multiple reports on the SMN. So hopefully something will be done other than an hour in GM jail or a slap on the wrist. :/


@Mystery - if you got the same SMN, I feel so sorry for you. I have encountered a lot of terrible players and a lot of trolls. I've even ran into tons of terrible "mentors", but that SMN was just toxic. I'm the same as you--even after food and sleep, my blood still boils thinking about them.

If ANYONE from that run of Weeping sees these posts, especially if they were in Alliance B with myself and my FC mates, I am sorry again. I am so, so sorry. It was embarrassing to have such a crappy person in our alliance...

I'm just reaching hard content. In the reddit thread it said to work towards my first relic weapon. I get through chimera in df np, now its time for hydra. I queue up with a mentor who doesn't answer any of my questions or tell me any mechanics. They rushed ahead and everyone fights np. Fear comes, I get feared and I die. A second person died as well. The mentor types "Yay incompetence" and continues to fight like normal. I get raised by the AST and the other person that died is now arguing with the mentor who is typing passive aggressive responses in chat. We eventually made it through, but it honestly left a bad taste in my mouth. I haven't done DF for two days now because my anxiety has kicked in. I seriously hope these type of mentors aren't a majority and that I can find one willing to actually help a sprout.

Report that mentor.

If they're sporting the mentor crown, they need to be held to a higher standard.
You asked for help, they refused to provide it, and then chastized you when you failed mechanics they refused to tell you about.

Just had three terrible dungeons with with terrible DRKs in a row.

1st dungeon: Cutter's Cry. DRK with DRG-tank gear, level 20 strength/dex jewelry, and, my favorite, the Lvl 15 Gridanian Ring

2nd dungeon: Aery. DRK who doesn't want to wait for anyone else to actually get into the boss rooms. Loves spinning mobs so poor melee DPS. Extremely squishy for like no reason.

3rd dungeon: Sunken Temple NM. Again, a DRK with DRG-tank gear and Lvl 20 strength/dex. Second favorite for the horrible gear today: was also wearing a couple MIND accessories.

Last night I wanted to play my SCH a bit, so I queued for the early story trials for fun. I ended up getting Titan NM with a new player bonus. Cool. We might wipe, but whatever.

The tank and two DPS were sprouts; also not a problem as Titan NM just isn't that hard. The tank was either trolling, or the single worst tank I've ever played with. He ran out immediately, grabbed aggro and then proceeded to run around the edge of the arena with Titan. After three wipes, I apologized to the other two sprouts (who had stopped even bothering to leave the starting zone and just let themselves die) and left the instance. I wouldn't have even really minded much if it weren't for the fact that there were two sprouts in there who had never done Titan before. I also would have kicked the tank, but he made sure that there wasn't enough time by rushing into battle first. The more I describe his behavior, the more certain I am that he was a troll and I wish I had reported him.
