The magazines ship to M'sia and SG, so I guess we'll have to go that path if we want the items.I don't get why we have to send an email to verify the 3 codes for Fat Chocobo when the single codes don't need any verification. Can you guarantee that Games Master won't be using our email addresses to send unwanted spam to our inboxes (which I likely doubt it)? Furthermore, what about the SEA countries? FFXIV copies sold in Malaysia and Singapore are EU IIRC.
Achievement Unlocked: LOLGOON
It's monthly circulation is tiny though. The last quoted monthly circulation (averaged over a year) that I can fine, is 17,942 copies per month for 2013. Given the decline in printed media, especially regarding gaming, I can't imagine that the circulation has increased at all. It's more than likely shrunk even further.
That's the biggest issue I would have with this, the use of a dead medium with a miniscule circulation to handle a promotion for an online game with the subscriber base that FFXIV has. It's counter-intuitive.

If i buy these magazine's and that is a huge IF then the only one showing the magazine any appreciation is my budgie.
They won't guarantee that because everyone knows GM will spam us and they will hide behind agreement terms regarding that of course
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
These promotions are silly. Just put them on the MogStation and offer EU players an exclusive bundle that includes all the items (maid/butler outfit, mount, mask) for $10-12. Why so low? Because they were basically free for NA. Probably the only time ever I'd support region locked content lol
I never stated it was popular I was aware about the low sales of the magazine. I was just stating that I still see it in newsagents and WHsmiths. It's monthly circulation is tiny though. that last quoted monthly circulation (averaged over a year) is 17,942 copies per month for 2013. I really hope people aren't buying into this~
- It's overpriced
- It's useless
- You have to wait 3 months
- You have to send a picture
- You might not get your codes
- It's a shady company
- You can't trust them with your personal email/information
& if you purchase this promotion you're only encouraging SE to continue shafting the EU/UK players.
DECIDE WISELY!
OK, but I wonder how many newsagents stock it if each has say 10 copies to sell... I'd imagine that in the South east (not sure where you live, but WH Smiths was all over London when I was last living there) you can find them relatively easily, but what about smaller cities or less urban areas?
I don't get why everyone keeps repeating this. Yes, I'm sure some people abused the pre-order trick, but I highly doubt the majority of people did. The promotion required gamers to purchase game-related items - I doubt it was difficult for people to find something they actually wanted to buy that qualified.
I think Scarborough is classed as small :P I totally agree though I have never seen more than 2-3 copies max on the shelf. Same in Hull they never have more than 2-3 issues on the shelf.OK, but I wonder how many newsagents stock it if each has say 10 copies to sell...
