I believe I said it before but I would actually agree with a support role. The only problem that has been brought up is how do we make them worth bringing over another DPS?
Although I'd love to see Samurai and many people are sure samurai will be one of the new classes, I honestly would laugh pretty hard if it wasn't or if it was a cast melee like some ideas have been floating around if it gets implemented.
I wouldn't argue with it myself, Id imagine the potency would be much higher and it would be a change of pace. Otherwise they would get tossed into the same group as MNK/NIN with positionals I would assume. A somewhat slower paced melee with no need to constantly dance around, I could actually get behind that.
Caster melee would be Red Mage not samurai, SE would deviate from what Samurai has always been if they made is caster melee, i don't even know of any caster skill from Samurai.
I assume the new classes will be Samurai and Red Mage, could also be Blue Mage and Red Mage but i doubt it.
I'm pretty sure it'll be Samurai and Red Mage.
And could be likely they would be both DPS (Samurai as STR and Red Mage as INT DPS), no point on adding another Greatsword Tank, and two more DPS variety would bring a lot of possibilities on party composition.
Maybe "casting" like Cyan's BushidoCaster melee would be Red Mage not samurai, SE would deviate from what Samurai has always been if they made is caster melee, i don't even know of any caster skill from Samurai.

That was essentially casting

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
By caster I think he was meaning charge time for the skills, like what Gauss Barrel and (forget bards skill) did to their skills. Least that is how I took it.Caster melee would be Red Mage not samurai, SE would deviate from what Samurai has always been if they made is caster melee, i don't even know of any caster skill from Samurai.

Samurai.... Samurai.... Samurai.... Samurai damn it!
Been waiting nearly two years now. I want my long stabby slashy weapon. >:C
Auron in FFX lso has Bushido, i didn't play 6 but i guess it's the same.
They're technically casting but i see them as casting buffs so i don't actually look at them as casting skills such as Fire, Ice etc

Yeah i guess that's what he meant, by bad and thank you.
that would be a suicide move from SE, ninja was really bad for duty finder queues when release, if you add 2 of the most beloved jobs in to one role in this case DPS you go to kill complety the duty finder for a very long time.
if they add SAM and RDM to dps they don't go to release it at the same time for sure.
To be fair though, not many ranged physical classes have ever had 'charged' actions either until 3.0, so I wouldn't put it beyond the dev team to get samurai a stance that allows actions to be charged to execute more damage.
If samurai is implemented, I am kind of leaning more towards it being a tank since samurai in FFXI did have a lot of tank-like passives/abilities.
