FFXIV 2nd expansion: Viera-like race still a possibility?

Saying that a lalafell with a beard cannot be compared to a true dwarf and then telling us to accept that throwing bunny ears on an elezen should compare to viera is pretty hipocritical though isnt it? The reason we want a viera is the game is sorely lacking a mature race that doesnt look like hulk and she hulk (rogyedens). Or a walking stick (elezen)

Rabanastre is within the garlean empire, so sooner or later, we will see Viera, if you like it or not.

Not this again. SE stated in a past Letter From the Producer LIVE video (formerly found here, but a rewritten summary can be found here) ages ago that names like Doma and Rabanastre that appear in FFXIV are not the same place from specific FF games nor do they 'prove' that FFXIV is '<insert FF world of choice here> world in the future/past/different time period' - they specifically stated Ivalice most definitely has no connection to Hydaelyn:

Q55: There are a lot of names from Ivalice such as Dalmasca, Belias, and Zodiak that have been mentioned, is there some connection between Hydaelyn and Ivalice?

A55: To be absolutely clear, there is no connection between FFXIV’s Hydaelyn and FFXII’s Ivalice. Likewise there is no connection with FFXI’s Vana’diel. Each are their own individual world. Based on this, there are connections between the things that appear in the world, and we’ll be revealing more in the future.

Name references and in-jokes do show up in FFXIV, but they are simply for fanservice and are not meant to be taken as 'proof' that Hydaelyn is another FF world in a different time period. And that goes doubly for meaning that FFXII's races will not be showing up here.

Because all you said was 'Lalafell with a beard.' This puts the image of the current Lalafell, their face included (and severe lack of muscle, knees or any adult looking form) into my head and all I get is some child wearing a fake beard. If you said "short/compressed Roegadyn-Highlander hybrid" (though we have no idea what a Roegadyn-Highlander hybrid could potentially look like, so...), then I would have thought more heavily on it and accept the hypocrite accusation.

That said, female Roegadyn do have a muscle slider. You can choose to have 'smooth' skin.

I would also like a mature race with tall females, who are not she hulks but have agile muscles. The thing is, none of the artwork about Viera suggests it is such a race. None. The face a few pages back looks just as young as Miqo'te, and the full body pictures show them just as skinny and weak as Elezen. Show that they can be grown up and fit and you'll have a better chance at convincing people they're not a Miqo'zen hybrid.

Urgh... Please no. I would be extremely disappointed if they decide to go with viera just for the sake of fanservice or go with something extremely mainstream such as a gnome or a dwarf race... We already have 2 tall races that looks like viera which are au'ra and elezen and we already have the miqo'tes who were the primary reason why they did not choose viera.

I would much prefer seeing something more original like a satyr or something like that.

Satyr would be nice too (and, like Vieras, can be included to Gridanian lore) but the issue stay the same, they WON'T re-work the armour because lazyness/founds being used to promote FFXV/insert you idea here so we'll always end up with the same, "human" looking creature with features like horns or ears to give the illusion of choice to players :/

My point was "why did SE bother making female Roegadyn" (because like you said, they're the least played, most likely because they're not cute/adorable by default. They definitely can look cute/adorable, though), They could have easily made Roegadyn the male-only race like the Galka, with lore explaining they are born from the volcano, earth, or sea.

Ah, that ones easy. Its because they were already there lol. All 14 races, as you already know, are pretty much carbon copies of xi races. However, when YoshiP did his revamp they made a decision to drop gender locked races altogether.

Can't remember off the top of my head but, think it just boiled down to he didn't like the idea of gender locked races (another part of whats holding viera back, he can't visualize a male viera and doesn't want a female only race put in again).

And it wasn't all that hard either. As, iirc female roes already existed in lore along with male miqos and female highlanders unlike xi where galka were male only from the ground up. Was it necessary, not really but, they couldn't decide to get rid of single gender races and not include them so.... here they be.

Pretty sure they were referring more to the general frame of their body. Muscles themselves aren't a problem. Heck I'd love it if my Miqo was sportin a rock hard six pack personally. Hmmm, I feel like they did at one point. May have to look it up but, I feel like my Miqo had more muscle definition in 1.x Wouldn't be surprised if true though, its the way they roll after all.

As for the lore on Roegadyn back in 1.0... considering how little lore there even is for the current races right now, I'm not so sure. Merlwyb didn't even exist until after Yoshi-P became Director-Producer (and back then, people apparently thought she was an Elezen).

I could go for something like this, but I doubt we'd get hooves. If anything we'd end up with playable Padjal, with the addition of a tail. Still, I'd be okay with it.
