Do healer need to help doing dps? Especially cleric stance?

Well, I'm certainly happy that you can have fun bringing inconvenience and extra work to other players so you can be lazy. I wish I could be that selfish, sucks having a conscience.

Other people pay a sub as well, I would like to point out, so you're basically saying that your money and playtime is more valuable than other people's when you defend such lazy play as making the tank do the entire mechanic by themselves. No idea how you can have such little consideration for other people, maybe you should stick to single player games, just a thought.

It's not a special case. It's SE designing things to try to hammer in bad healers' heads there are times they should dps. Would you not dps in the initial part either before the dolls combine? Terrible.

Any boss fight should begin with the healer in dps stance. You should be halfway through casting your first dot as the tank pulls. And that's all the way from lolroulettes to raids.

Well yes, to be optimal that should be the case, but as you can tell from these forums some people don't care about being optimal, and even someone like me who is a huge stickler for healers contributing all they can, even I will admit that it doesn't overly matter in most content.

But if you just stand there and make the tank do all the work for you, regardless of what content it is, you're a lazy jerk. End of story, imo.

That is fine, and if I saw you in a dungeon I would not really be bothered. You do you ;D

The simple answer is that anyone is free to play the game as they wish, but also comprehend that you're playing with other people and you may face some limitations. A prime example of this would be raiding. If you decide you want to get into the raiding scene, and you don't wish to contribute any DPS, you'll have one of two outcomes. Either you'll join a group and fail to clear anything until your team is overgeared, or you'll simply not be accepted into a group. That's just the way this game is designed. Healer DPS is extremely beneficial to progression groups, and if you don't want to play ball, they won't want to play with you.

How are healers not totally bored just healing?
Nothing ever kills anyone fast enough to not DPS. (Except some Savage content).

I've got say, there are a lot more non-DPSing healers than I thought. In every roulette if we didn't bring our own healer, the healer was a heal bot.
Considering Eos can heal most dungeons by itself, please be more than a healbot.
It makes everything take longer if you just sit there casting stone skin all the time mid-fight. Learn to pop cleric stance. Please for the love of all that is holy.

Healing is the most interesting and intense job in FFXIV, but if you're only doing half of it, you're a terrible healer.
There's a reason they gave you the most potent AoE in the game and some of the best DoTs, along with mitigation spells like stone skin and regens so you can DPS at the beginning of fights without having to worry about healing for a bit.

If in your personal ranking system you consider a healer who only heals 'good', in your opinion, how do you rate a healer that keeps the group alive while also DPSing? Excellent? Amazing?
