Crafting is where the game gets really complicated. If one looks at the problem solo and face on, it looks insurmountable. Leveling up gathers to max levels and making use of battle retainers and your own augmented gathering can greatly cut down on parts of the tedium and massively cut costs. None the less crafting is still a very intimidating job.

Much of this intimidation and annoyance becomes squashed through being able to start leveraging the market board, buying odds and ends other people don't need for cheep, and using those cheep parts to make goods (for leveling and sales). While leveling I would always look for a few low material options which looked "viable" for leveling. I would also make sure to check which items could be handed in as Leve Quests (where you hand in your crafted items for extra XP). And then I would check the market for costs on odds and ends that I might have to farm. Usually my goal while leveling would be to find something where I could buy the tedious items from the market board. I still do this same process today at max level using http://www.garlandtools.org/db/ to see where items come from and while making items to sell.

Ultimately if you train yourself to treat the market board as variable priced vender you'll find crafting much easier to approach in terms of time invested.

With all of this said, you will end up seeing that leveling up a battle/gathering class first and using ample extra gil to push your way through crafting (taking a loss on goods) will feel backwards but be a much more efficient use of your time. As it stands right now if you wanted to level only your crafting classes first, it would be a VERY intimidating process, primarily because of gil inflation, an expansion being out, and the lack of use of old world goods. In the past I have told people with a strong head, and ample determination you could level all your crafters first by buying materials and selling goods (I did this leveling all my crafters to 50 before coming anywhere near finishing the main quest on my bard). None the less with the expansion out you would have to be very market savey and patient to do this nowdays.

Here is my advice for leveling crafting efficiently and relatively quick. This is the same approach I used leveling all of my crafts and being one of the very first on our server to reach level 60 in all crafts at the start of heavensward.

OP are you doing levequests? because it doesn't sound like you are if you are making hundreds of anything. I'd look into finding levequests that are an appropriate level for you.

Levequests are one of the easiest ways to level a crafter. Levequests should be available at the adventurer guild in the respective city that your crafter guild is in.

@OP, I\\'m not the best at crafting but I\\'ll just provide my own experience and hopefully it\\'ll provide some comfort to your situation.

I started out with only levelling my DoW class. And played for at least 5months without so much as remotely touching crafting. But as with all things, I eventually started to feel bored and since I felt it would be a waste paying a sub without experiencing so many things, I started crafting. Due to my long adventures, I amassed a comfortable amount of monster drops, various craft items, and gil from the many many quests/dungeons/etc that I did as a DoW.

On that note, I would suggest a compromise for your situation. You should focus on your DoW adventures first, enjoy the MSQ and the excellent plot and character lore. In the meantime, go check out daily Grand Company Supply&Provisioning missions. They are just daily "quests" that require you to craft only ONE item, and turn it in for exp and GC seals for that respective class. GC seals have lots of use and you can check it out too on your own time , but more importantly, you can make use of this free daily \\\\'quest\\\\' to provide that bit of experience for your craft class (or classes) while you focus on your DoW.

To summarize, you are feeling the grind pressure because you\\\\'re fresh and lack the resources. But it does get lots of fun later on. Trust me (and the rest of us that enjoy the game too). Enjoy!

Sorry, had to do a new post to add on, can\\'t edit on mobile

If you're farming mobs for drops, you might want to invest some levels into Rogue/Ninja. At level 15 they learn a skill called Mug which increases item drops if it's used just before the mob dies.

Did I read that correctly? You're thinking of quitting because you don't like the....crafting?

Cooking wants to have a word with you. It feels hurt and betrayed that you'd put another class before it. /pats cooking There there! Who's the most frustrating class to level up? You are!

@OP: There are leve quests, GC daily turn-ins, and two beast tribes to help with the process. You can also make use of the quick synth process if you're as lazy as I am. I'd suggest doing them in blocks. As in, do your GC daily turn-ins for each class but then focus on one to spend your leves on one until it gets to a certain level then switching it to the next (say, get one to 5 then pick up one of the others to get to 5, rinse and repeat.)

It makes the process easier if you try to level them all about the same time because most recipes require stuff from other classes. It's just a tiny EXP boost and you won't go broke buying stuff off the MB.

Completely justified. There are those of us out there that play the game for DoH/DoL. XD
